Just looking for some recommendations from tavor owners. I've been eyeballing the Elcan specter DR forever but it's too much $$$, especially with the prices going up because of the poor exchange rate. Ballpark budget? Maybe 1200'ish max.....
Thanks

This thread worried me for a minute. $1200 is quite the "budget" Thought you were going to put a NCStar or something on your $3000 rifle.

The DR is nice,
An Aimpoint or EOtech with or without a magnifier is an option.
1-4X optic works as well. (Vortex PST or similar)
Acog for a fixed magnification.

Another option would be the SIG optics whenever they arrive.

Or you could look the CQT? by leupold? I think that is what it is called... someone will correct me if I am wrong.

You could get a dozen Tasco red dots from Can Tire and mount them every you possible can on the Tavor, or you could jerry rig a spotters scope onto the rifle. But if $1200 is your 'budget', I'd go Trijicon or Aimpoint for sure.

I picked up a Burris AR-536 for my Tavor it was on sale for just under $400 its a 5x scope they also have the AR-332 its a 3x scope. They have a red/green lighted ballistic CQ reticle which is nice and they are compact so they don't take up the entire top rail like most sporting scopes and burris makes good glass.

Do you find the reticle markings to be too thick? The outer ring and the main dot look a little wide to me in videos ive watched on them.....I've also looked at the burris mtac combo as well with the ff red dot.

Just to clarify a bit. I definitely want something with magnification. I'm just on the fence about the whole flip to the side magnifier deal. I'll have to handle one to decide on that.

I am just using open sights now, but I did order a holosun red dot as a temporary fill in until I decide on a better optic. Once I do I plan to put the holosun on one of my 22's.

Daver II,
Did you mean the D-EVO? It's a 4x fixed power but still needs a conventional red dot ( not supplied) to work. The D-EVO itself will be close to 1k when it gets here and you still need a Eotech, Aimpoint or Trijicon,or somesuch.

Pretty sure the last price I saw for a D-EVO in CAD was $1800.

Everyone is trying to get the balance of that low power reaction sight and the advantages of moderate magnification. Piggy backed red dots, variable scopes, they're all gunning for the same goal.

It is different from other scopes true, It's a tactical scope tho so the markings all serve a purpose for one thing or another. I like it tho, It's kind of like a magnified eotec in a lot of ways.

My bad on the $. The Leuppy reps at SHOT said they were under $1000US in Jan. so I was guessing around a $1000 here.
Forgot about the exchange now.
TVPP, what did you think of this system? I found it hard to get used to but that was only playing with it for 15 mins.

Any links to where these are for sale in Canada?

I like my vortex viper pst 1-4x great scope for the money.
I just got a vortex spitfire 3x for my t97. Ooooo I know don't mention a t97 in a tavor thread. ;) Lol.
I wanted a little magnification. I had a 1-4x on it and didn't like it. Made the gun feel bulky/heavy.
So I got the spitfire. Sighted it in yesterday and I'm very pleased with it. Fine lines in the reticle. Good quality. Reticle is etched in the lense so it doesn't matter if battery goes dead. A cheaper alternative to an acog. If you're looking to save a few bucks.

Lol. I was expecting to see NC Star optics in this thread. $1200 budget is pretty healthy. If your end goal is a Specter, get something that is "good enough" to make do until you have saved the funds. Watch the EE, you may be able to pick up a DR between $1500 and $1700 in pretty good condition to if you watch.
