I finally got a chance to visit the BGC store this past weekend. Their selection is mind-boggling, however, their prices are on the high side, IMO. Here's a sample:

Kimber .45 Super Carry Custom: $1,350
Kimber .45 Custom Target II: $860
Kimber SS TLE RL II NS+Rail $1,160
Kimber Custom TLE II NS RG $960
Kimber Eclipse Custom II NS WG $1,150
Kimber Tactical Entry II NS $1,300

Dan Wesson Valor .45 4" barrel NS $1,570

CZ75 stainless $740
CZ75b-SA Custom $1,150
CZ97B .45 $750
CZ97 .45 NS $830

HK USP .40 $1,270
HK 45 V1 + Rail $1,070

Sig P226 Blackwater 9mm NS Tactical $1,090
P226 9mm NS $940
P226 9mm NS WG $1,190

SS = Stainless Steel
NS = Night Sights
WG = Wood Grips
RG = Rubber Grips

See any bargains here? I didn't... :confused:

The transfer fee is $100 - however, the guy told me there's an additional 5% of the price of the gun. I haven't seen anyone at CGN mention the 5%, so I assume this is a new thing.

With the $$$ at what it is, those are not bad prices, plus, the BGC has things there you can buy that no one brings in. I have dealt with them several times and they are great to deal with.

I'm sure they are good to deal with - otherwise, BGC wouldn't be recommended by so many people. However, if their prices are just 'not bad' I'd rather give my business to Canadian folk, and save my Saturday for something other than driving to Buffalo. Also, you still have to register & verify the firearm on your own.

I just don't see those 100s of dollars being saved as some people had reported. I asked BGC guys if they'd take a transfer from another dealer: since BGC is FFL-licensed, I thought I could pick a bargain elsewhere & have it being shipped to them. The answer was Yes, but only if BGC could not get me that gun themselves, and the fee would be $300 + 5%. There was a recent deal in the US where you could pick up an HK USP .40 for about $450, so $450+$300+5% would make sense, but since BGC can get it they'd sell it to me for $1,270+5% - and that makes the deal cold.

I'm curious, does anyone have a real example of how they'd saved $$ by going with BGC?

Regular prices at that particular store/State...?

So, I saw CZ P-07, in Academy store, new, for $399, in Alabama a week ago... means nothing...

Does this help ? Sorry had to blank out some of the personal info....

paid 100 bucks US for the paper work, gst/pst at the border Canada wants it tax money, and that's about it. one phone call to register the items in my name once I had the serial numbers, and a call once more to get a STATT to bring them home which cost nothing.

...........removed.............

pics will be put back up, once staff advise me that they meet CGN rules

I did not mean to promote the store, I only meant to post the invoice to show the figures

I was there a couple of months ago, you feel like you're being teased by heaven with all the cool guns we can't have here. their prices seemed ok. Staff is pretty friendly even if they know you're not amarican. I'd deal with them if I really wanted something that I couldn't get here for a similar price (it costs money to drive down there too and I hate waiting (import/export))

Basically in a "nutshell" you go to BGC and pick out the firearm of choice, I can only speak to handguns, however they can do some rifles.
Put down a deposit to start the export permit process, and return home with the pistols info (serial # etc) register the pistol via the CFC website. Wait for the call from BGC, get the ATT from the border to your home.Attend BGC, you follow there driver to the border, he declares the firearm, you pay the taxes, he hands it over to you, and you proceed home.
sh*t simple. They know the "drill" so there are no surprises.

(BTW in my case I called to see if they had the specific firearm, used my CC and got the info over the phone.) If you know what you want you only have to make one trip)

Prices aside... BGC actually has firearms in stock. If they don't have exactly what you want they can get it in very short order.
On the occaisions I've bought there yes I did save a few bucks... Substantially on a Benelli m4, but really the main reason I went to BGC was 'cause well... Canadian dealers didn't have stock and/or couldn't/wouldn't get what I wanted.

$100 is basically cost of doing paperwork and extra hassle with customer from Canada. 5% is to offset the actual exporting cost (department of defense charges a huge fee per export permit for big exporters and % from value for small value exporters)

Main reason for doing business.

So you pay for the gun, then the $100.00, +5% and no other export fee's?

Wow! $1270 for a USP 40, that's a rip off. I can get one here for -$1100, why are they so much in the states? I was holding out for when I take a planned trip to Buffalo but now...
Is this the common price for a USP in the U.S. or is BGC's pricing on them just way off base?
Also what happens with the non-neutered mags that come with the pistols? Do you leave them behind or will they pin them for you?

Some times they have great deals some times no so much. If you know what you want you can do the transaction over the phone, by email and fax. The only time you need to go to Buffalo is to follow the driver and do the business at the border. BTW for us we don't pay the NY stste tax but we do have to pay the HST and the $100 admin fees. In some cases we could be ahead of the game and the deal would be worth wile

I know someone who got a really :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:good deal on a Benelli MR1 from the BGC.

is it $100 per firearm, or per transaction? could be worth keeping in mind if one was to buy a few handguns.
