Hi guys,
I'm almost done with my build but I have 1 question for you
1) Do you think this trigger : Elftmann AR10 .308 Drop-In Trigger, could fit? (my understanding is that it's a milspec AR10 trigger so it should work?)
Thanks
i see no reason it shouldnt work...
Here is my build... now I only need to be patient to get everything I ordered...

It sure isBrianma65, That's a beautiful HG. I'm almost considering it over the Faxon CF. RA makes some really nice stuff, one of my fav manufacturers for sure.
You want a DPMS thread for the handguard.
I got a standard DPMS barrel nut as well. Do you think it s gonna fit? According to the description, this handguard is for DPMS high profile so that’s why I thought I was ok...
Yup - should be good with the DPMS barrel nut.
Anything over 22 and you will want the xl gas system.
Hey guys. Newbie AR10 builder here. I'm keen to build my first AR10 using the Stag 10 receivers that have become available. I have been researching the death out of it but have come up short in answering some of my questions. What is the longest practical barrel length that would work with a rifle length gas system? My first upper assembly will be chambered in a 6.5 caliber and will be used for long range target shooting - 900m plus. Looking on Krieger's site I can choose a 26" barrel chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua for example. Am I going to realize any benefit in a barrel that long shooting that cartridge out to the distances stated? I'm beginning to understand the relationships between dwell time, gas system length, port pressure, buffer weights, buffer springs, etc, etc, etc but the subtleties of balancing all of those factors to ensure proper and efficient operation of the rifle are still not totally understood and hence my question.
To summarize; if I want to build a 1000 yard target AR10 chambered in 260, 6.5 Creed, 6.5x47, what would be the longest barrel length for maximum performance without sacrificing function? Is the extra 4" of a 26" barrel just a waste of barrel length compared to say a 22"?
One more thing; I have been building custom bolt guns for sometime and I'm a competitive short range and long range bench rest shooter. I know what it takes to get a rifle/cartridge combo to shoot, just not the AR10 platform.
OP. I hope you don't mind me posting this question in your thread. It seemed like a good place to do so but I'll removed my post and start a new one if you prefer.
Not sure what "proof" you are looking for, but my Christensen Arms CA-10 with CF-wrapped stainless match Barrel has performed exactly as advertised. The rifle functions 100%, fulfills the factory waranteed accuracy standard of sub-MOA with factory match ammo, and the Barrel seems to conduct heat rapidly from the stainless liner to the atmosphere, becoming cool to the touch far faster than any steel barrel of equivalent heavy profile. The weight savings between the barrel and CF handguard are phenomenal. The only complaint that I have with the CF stuff is the cost. I would never want to pay full-price for a new example. I lucked out and paid a little more than half of the MSRP for my (then) minty CA-10 on our very own EE.

I think 20-22 is ideal personally. More then that is not much increase.
