Sorry I've got no clue. Was only suggesting another gauge as an option. The other possibility is it's a barely misses on the go. I can only tell you what I've read which is availiable to you on the internet as well. I would remove the barrel and try the bolt like that.

There are guys with a ton of experience on here and would be more help than me. Maybe your colt has a chamber with enough room to pass ( a possibly) damaged gauge but not the dd or aero?

the thing that dont make senece is the DD barrel and aero barrel both seem fine no damage and the gauge looks fine as well i bought them a month ago from brownells the a clymore gauges which are good gauges. your help has been great thanks you.

if anyone has an option or has run into this please chime in.

i do have an NEA 14.5 barrel on order i will try that one when it comes in.

i have tried the gauge with the barrel removed from the upper and it wont rotate to achive complete lock up with the barrel extenstion.

If a round chambers and the bolt locks correctly using real ammo, I wouldn't worry too much.

Just always do that check before firing new ammo.

Most people don't bother doing this check on their builds using gauges.
Your DD is an example of how this artificial test is not always applicable.

You're more worried about you chamber being too loose than too tight, so if real rounds cycle thru it smoothly then you should be good.

thanks Conte i will put a few rounds down range and see how it dose because real 5.56 chambers fully and cycles fine. will post an up date as it comes along

If the 5.56 ammo chambers without forcing it at all, I don't think you'll have too much issue. Keep in mind the guages MAY be made to SAAMI spec; which in a technical sense, 5.56x45mm NATO isn't. The worst thing to encounter, is the shoulder of the brass hits the chamber shoulder and crunches the neck down causing excess pressure in the case. And it literally could be a few ten-thousandths of an inch too short for the go gauge to work.

The funny thing is, a headspace gauge is just a "quickey" check to see if the chamber is properly spec'd, it's not the ultimate-rule in a chamber being cut right. And if a Daniel Defense barrel is the same as your Aero barrel; I would err on the side that the chambers should be fine.
