If it cost them $.90 round, Epps is perfectly justified charging $1 / round.

If it cost them $.90 a round they would be CRAZY if they charged $1.00 a round, should be more like $1.60 a round. Store rent needs to get paid, lighting etc., not to mention all those wages, isn't going to happen on $.10 a round.

Anyway even if they are overpriced, could be my only chance to get my hands on very good ammo this year, remember i wont shoot no Norinco stuff in my rifles... All of them with no exceptions... JP.

Gagnon sell it for $ 220, and Epps for $ 399, I know it's hard to get , but seriously $ 399, that is pure gouging

Why shouldn't a retailer charge what the market indicates the price should be?

If it cost them $.90 round, Epps is perfectly justified charging $1 / round.

Maybe they are, but Brownells lists the same deal for $179.99 -- and, yes, they are temporarily out of stock due to demand. Another site sponsor was selling the can for $219.99 only several months ago. The price I'm now seeing roughly matches the gouging that was/is going on stateside. I'll pass. A week ago I had a "reliable" gun dealer in Vancouver ship me out a crate of 1600 rounds of Norinco 5.56 (XM193 lookalke) for $399.99 plus a modest shipping charge and tax. At the difference in cost per quantity a few folks might consider waiting for a better price. Life won't come to a standstill if you don't have XM855 in your stash. And, yes, I have several cans but they were bought at a reasonable price recently.

So I'm not crazy?

Well... maybe I am...

But I do think it's worthwhile to have both M855 and M193 and I personally have both (I just have a LOT more M193). I say get it while you can, if you need some.

I say get it while you can, as long as the price is reasonable. Keep in mind that the Yanks can't get their mitts on cheap Norinco like we can. To a man, they all say "Buy as much Norinco as you can afford!". I'd be loading up on that first and worrying about PMC X-TAC or XM855 at a later date. The cheap surplus we're currently seeing may vanish in the near future.

In a SHTF situation -- heck any situation -- would you take 1600 rounds of butt-kicking ammo or 420 rounds of butt-kicking ammo if they were presented to you for the same price. I know what I'd be loading up on.

I find that its fair for a dealer to sell products at whatever prices they want to offer. However, I won't purchase those products from them. It is no different from people hoarding PMAG's and turing around trying to sell them for 50 bucks a pop. I won't buy them either. Especially when I can get them for 20-25 bucks each.*makes jerk-off gesture with hand* However some people find that fair as well. Really, if you don't like the prices, don't buy the product or simply wait for another dealer that has the same or similar product for less. I really do not think that 5.56/.223 is going to be extinct anytime soon, however if it does I am well stocked.

Got in exces of 4500 rounds 308 AE BTMJ 150 gr but running only 400-500 223 to feed 5 rifles 223, so one extra 500 rounds of quality wont hurt, when i get back will reload 300-400 with the 77 gr Scenar but those go fast @ 200-300 rounds per range session... JP.

It depends, I think nowadays this is no longer valid. The technology evolved, the manufacturing prices dropped. Why most of products are more expensive?

Technology evolved BUT commodity prices skyrocketed.

Oil, copper, lead, and zinc are at least 3-4x more expensive than they were 10 years ago. Ammo has NOT similarly increased... yet.

Correction to Pricing

Our distributor had improperly invoiced this product to us, therefore our retail price was in error on this product.

Proper pricing for the 420-round can of Federal 5.56 NATO, 62-grain M855 ammunition is $246.99 + taxes, not the $399.00 price previously quoted.

Our apologies for the error.

All orders placed at the previous price will be refunded the applicable difference in cost before close of business today.

Whew... I was starting to worry too...

(I support $1/round .223 - but my preference is for it to be cheaper).
