bullet weight and load used for a 9mm carbine

I did some experimenting with the Mech Techs and found that for longer ranges, 147s were the way to go - the long bearing surface of the bullet got me more accuracy at 100+ yards.

You want a slower burning powder to take advantage of your long barrel.

I went with a little over the maximum recommended load for slower powders like HS-6. (sorry, I'm too much of a legal chicken to quote them here - you can look 'em up.)

I don't know about the chambers of the Beretta and Ruger - this could be an issue (how supported the case is)

What I did was watch for signs of brass buldge / Primer flattening and as soon as they popped up, backed off on the powder charge.

got a question though
Wouldn't the 147 drop the most at 100 yards?
It is the max distance I am planning to shoot at.
Thanks,
Tom

Strange, I thought it would be opposite - lighter bullets will trade less momentum with carbine thus giving slower acceleration rate on recoil. And lighter bullet supposed to leave barrel earlier while barrel hasn't shifted much yet. That is my theory. I think for Beretta cx4 lighter bullets may work better as they do not have sloppy barrel-frame attachment issue like Mechtech's.

I also think lighter bullets will/should have more drop at longer distances...

For long range shooting (100m+) I'd go with hevier bullets, but realistically 100m is not really that far so souldn't really matter. Just try different loads and see which one works the best.

out of my colt ro634 with the 10.5" barrel i use 115grn JHP with 4.3 grns of bullseye easily hit clay birds on the 100yrd berm

I have never tried longer then 100 with it

If you're in to casting... Lee's 105gr LSWC for .38/.357 works great in my 9mm handguns and the AR-9mm. Even my buddy loves them in his. No load data so you have to work one out that works best for your gun. Don't know how they shoot in the Storms, either.
