Bullpups

Not prohib but good luck finding one for under 5k. The states won't export them. I "think" the way the bullpup thing works is that you can't modify a gun to be a bullpup (why the sks and 10/22 bullpup kits are prohib) and it will be prohibited if you can fire it without the stock, which I really don't get but anyway.....

It's really not that complicated of a law. Picture a FS2000, if you were to take the stock off that rifle, you'd have to remove the mag well and many of the moving parts. The firearm will no longer function. However, if you were to remove the stock off a conventional rifle, say an AR15, you're not affecting the ability of the firearm to function, you're basically "pistolizing" it. It's not too complicated when you think about it. :)

You won't be able to buy a bullpup at 99% of the gun stores in Canada, as those stores generally don't cater to anyone other than hunters. As such, the guys in those stores usually have no concept of the exact definitions of the law outside of hunting regulations. There should be a post somewhere in the forums here exactly stating the law, which says that a bullpup is prohibited if the rifle can be fired without the stock. However, if the rifle requires the bullpup stock to function, then the firearm is legit. Basically, if the firearm was designed as a bullpup, then it's ok. If you turn a regular stock firearm into a bullpup, you're a bad boy. If you want a bullpup here in Canada, ask one of the CGN sponsoring dealers. They're properly in the know. Otherwise you'll have to talk to some of the guys on here that were the first to get these FN bullpups into the country. Sxyglock and Strangeday immediatley come to mind.

THERE IS! You just have to look for it.
The thread by Greentips explains it, and I mentioned it also in my Newbie FAQ Section. (link in my sigline, below)

I have a PS90 and an FS2000. They are both restricted, not prohib. The FS could be "un-restricted" if fitted with an upcoming longer barrel.

And if I could sell either for $5,000 I would (because it would be a decent profit, not because I don't like them).

They are both fun and cool guns. The only drawback I've had is people coming over to me on the range and telling me they are illegal...

You should keep pamphlets with you entitled: "So you're a moron.."

I believe Strangeday (who else?) sold an FS2000 not too long ago, his asking price was $4500 - they're pretty much in the same boat as the G36, there isn't much of a chance we'll see any more because Uncle Sam had a cow over the few that managed to make it in.
That doesn't mean we won't get any more Bullpups though - the Israeli Tavor is on the horizon.

:D You think they might forget to switch the trigger set? so had select fire ? :D

:bsFlag: :p

They might neglect to prevent a free moving switch to that position, but they definitely wouldn't forget something as complex as a fire control setting. That's a pretty indepth and drawn out oops. Don't want to be a killjoy or anything, but even if they did, that'd just be worse for us, as the rifles would get here, then have to be shipped back, then we'd have to wait another couple months/years for another shipment of semi-only rifles to come. That would be most uncool.

Hello,

Lol ya...But there was this one time, you guys probably heard about it. Some one ordered SKS' parts I think (~1000) those parts were full-auto and then there was all that controversy. Kinda funny when you think about it.

SKSs were never full auto. Never at any time in their production histroy have they ben anything other than semiauto. Someone's been fibbing to you.

Um, I've never heard of it.

And judging by all your other posts, I won't take your word for it.

The old cooey .22 the guy was talking about? The gun just broke. If the bolt face of an sks rusts badly the pin can get stuck and the gun will slam fire until the magazine is empty.
