I would like some feed back on Burris scopes . I just bought my father in law a new tikka and mounted a new 3x9x40 Burris scope on it . It has a great clear and bright sight picture , but would like to here from the people who have used them in the field . Good , bad , I would like to hear it all . thanks in advance Joe Lafortune CD

Great scopes, not made in the US anymore, but seem to be just as good as ever. I really like the ballistic plex reticle. Like most scopes, if it doesn't have an adjustable paralax feature, they are normally set to be paralax free at 150 meters, give or take 25 meters. They are a little heavier than some, therefore make sure the mounts and mounting are up to the recoil of the cartridge/rifle combination that you are shooting. bearhunter

VEry good value for money, the only beef people tend to have is they are a pain to use the Butler flip-up covers because the whole eye piece turns when you adjust the power. Other than that very good.

Trying to get warranty work done made me decide that I probably won't buy another one.

+1 thesy come with the rubber band cover but these are always coming off inadvertently. They're nice and bright and the ballistic plex is really good.

Well, not really. The only Burris scopes that are NOT made in the USA is as follows

Fullfield II 3-9
Fullfield II 4.5-14
Fullfield II 1 3/4 -5

Those scopes are made in the Phillipines

Their Signature Series are right up there with the Leupold Vari-X III line . Their Black Diamond line is is pretty impressive as well

The big advantage that Leupold has is their warranty station in Alberta is great to deal with ( My only beef is they won't work on Mark 4 scopes ) .

I have 3 of the original Burris Fullfield scopes that are getting close to 25 years old now, and I haven't had any problems with any of them. Burris has been a good brand name for me.

I had a Burris FFII 3-9x40 w/ Ballistic Plex reticle

good scope, but only complaint was the entire eye piece rotated with power zoom, making life with butler creek lens covers a pain, with regards to bolt travel.

good choice.
I chose burriss over Leupold too.
Not to say that Leupys are not good (you heard that SuperCub) but unfortunately they are overpriced.

Bought a 8x32 30 mm. tube Black diamond. At 100 & 200 optics clear at 300 meters can't see xring just blurrs out. I have to readjust focus after every shot. Sent back to Burris for repair at $45.00 out of my pocket and cost another $45.00 for brokerage fees to get it back and still useless as percision optics. Would be way farther ahead to have spent the exta $150.00 on another gold ring. Live and learn!!!

Burris Scopes?

I think that you can't buy a better scope for the money. I know a bunch of previously loyal Leupold fans who have switched to Burris including myself. In comparison I think the Fullfield II's are easily as good as VXII and IIIs for a whole lot less money. Very durable, solid scopes and a huge selection of sizes and styles.

Just bought my first Burris (FFII 3-9X40) after owning a number Leupold, Bushnell, Tasco, B&L, etc, and even some Zeiss scopes. They are definitely good value for the money.

I've run into a problem with the adjustment of the Hunter Knobs for elevation and windage. According to instructions, you should be able to sight the scope and then move the dial so that the zero is lined up with the positioning line on the body.

The problem that I have is with the instruction in the manual as follows: "Like target knobs, the dial can be reset to zero once sighted-in simply by inserting a knife or small screwdriver in the dial slot and rotating".

My experience with scopes where this is possible have set screws that allow the dial to be rotated without affecting the adjustment. The target knobs on the Burris do in fact have set screws to accomplish this. There are no set screws on the Hunter Knobs.

Hope that someone has run across this in the past and can help me. Otherwise, I'll just send an e-mail to Burris for clarification.

Thanks,

Duke1

Signature 2-8 x30

I have a Burris on my custom 7x57, and this was my first year hunting with this scope and I was very impressed with how bright the image was at the end of legal light at the end of Nov, the last day of deer season here in Alberta. This scope will be staying on this rifle and I will be looking into another one for my new Sako 25-06.FS
