I'm looking for a new scope for a Tikka T3 SS .243 I just bought from a fellow CGN'er. I realize there's lots of options but I'm narrowing the choice down.
Does anyone have any practical comparison of a Burris Signature Select , Ballistic Plex, w. Posilock 3x10x40 Matte and a Leupold VX-III 3.5x10x40 Boone & Crocket , Matte ?
Primary usage is hunting and of course range practice.
Is the Burris posi-lock an advantage or cumbersome?
Both will take some range work to sort out the Ballistic reticle.
Both seem similarly priced, have multi-coated lenses, >95% claimed light transmission, both have a lifetime warranty, however Leupold service is in Canada. I haven't look thru either yet , and low light performance will likely be the deciding factor. Are there any other key differentiating factors? Appreciate any input.
thx,
Steve

no opinions?

any thoughts on the usefulness, value of the Burris posi-lock feature?
as soon as i get a chance to look thru both and compare them, i'll post my comments.

I have personally had had excellent service from Leupold (mostly from custom shop, no warranty issues), and the bonus is the servicing completed out of Okotoks, Alberta

I have not heard many good things about burris customer sevice.

I have a couple Leups and decided to buy a Burris sig series with illuminated dot and have never looked back. The red dot has two settings and is really dimm it works wonders on bears.

I've had em both and there is no comparison at ALL!!!!!! The Buris scope is heavier, the posi-lock is nice for a BIG boomer but a pain in the ass for a little 243 and not required. The ballistic plex does not account for wind drift but is nice and fine, however the heavy parts of the reticle are too close together for a real good sight picture. Now the Leupold VXIII 4.5-14x40 A/O or the 50mm A/O have the side adjustment (great of the bench or bipod) and are available in the VARMINT RETICLE! This is the right stuff for the 243 Win. in my experience. Those 300 yard plus shots on yotes and dirt pigs will be no problem with practice. Burris warrantee is US based, meaning brokerage fees with every trip! Leupold has the Alberta warrantee center! Clarity is better with the VXIII and if you go with the LR model its 30mm tube gives you greater adjustablity. HANDS DOWN GO LEUPOLD!
