Hello,
Tought I would post my latest experience with Bushnell. I had TWO (count 'em, TWO) Bushnell Legend 3x9x40's go snakey on my Rem 7400 .280. 2nd one was a factory replacement from Bushnell. When the 1st one failed to hold zero, I asked Bushnell to upgrade me to an Elite 3200, and instead I was sent another Legend. I told Bushnell that I did not think the Legend was shockproof, but to indulge them I installed and tested the replacement Legend. It took 30 shots to shake the second "Legend" loose on my .280 - could not group on a dinner plate at 100 yds. Then two shots through the iron sights at 25 yds - both went in the same hole - guess what the problem was. By the way, all scope mounts were verified tight.
When I sent it back, evidently Bushnell confirmed that the scope wouldn't hold zero and sent me an Elite 3200 3x9x40. This is definitely a superior piece of optics compared to the "Legend". Am looking forward to testing it, and I am confident the semi will not shake it loose.
I believe in reporting good as well as bad customer experiences and this happens to be a basically good one. However I could have bought an Elite with all the ammo and time I wasted testing and diagnosing the defective Bushnell Legend scopes in the first place:mad:
Note to self...no more cheap scopes!;)

I looked through a 24x 4200 today and was quite impressed.A friend has it mounted on his 10-22 and prefers it over his nightforce!!!I am still a leupold guy but that 4200 was darned nice!!

I had similer thing happen with my 7400 killing scopes and bushnell replaced it with a B&L 3000 which withstood the recoil of the 7400 (this was a few years back) the 7400 is hard on scopes as it has the same type of recoil as a spring piston air rifle.

I really like the high end B&L which is now the bushy 3200 and the 4200. I actually prefer them over the leupolds . they seem brighter and crisper and i actually am thinking of purchasing a new 3200 or 4200 . I really like the looks of the 5x15 3200

Great gesture from Bushnell Customer Service (assuming it for free)! I have five Elites and never have any problem with them.

So far as their service is concerned, I took a 30 year old 2-7X Custom Scope back to their Markham HO and they cleaned and adjusted it for while I waited. No questions on warranty or paper work. That is the way they should service customers. :)

I had a 5x15x40 Legend for three years, it made two years with no problems but this winter I had it go out twice. Not a confidence builder when you line up for your next shot. I took it off the 22-250 and replaced it with a 4x16x40 Elite 4200.

How long should one expect to wait when sending a scope in for repair?

I have a cheap 6-18 banner that shook loose on a 243 and have since replaced it with an old lyman target scope.

Thanks

In my experience with Bushnell Customer Service (I have more than I would like...) it will take 4-6 months turnaround time. The elite 3200 that I got is a good quality scope. I feel it will stand up to ol' scopekiller:p

I have an Elite 4000 that wouldn't hold zero after some use on my 7600 chambered for 35 Whelen.
Bushnell Customer Service have told me that they will not warranty the scope and have offered to sell me a new 4200 for full price.
I'm not very pleased with the quality of their top of the line scope and their service.
I will not purchase one again and would not recommend one to anyone.

Good Luck
John

Wow, that's pretty wacky. Did they give a reason for not honouring the warranty?

I was told that the scope had been abused. The only external marks on the scope are light ring marks.
Perhaps I abused it by installing it on a rifle with more recoil that the scope could take.
Rem 7600, 35 Whelen

i sent an older 2.5 scope with the crosshair hanging off to one side. it hade been on a 22. no tube damage except faint ring marks. no waurety as they determined it was abused. it was used and fell apart. i now mostly own lueps, redfield or burris. only have one bushey a banner on a 22. i wouldn't use a bushy on a hunting rifle. twice i sent in scopes both times they wanted a lot of money to repair or replace.
