Bushnell Elite 4500 or Engage?

More info please. What zoom levels?

Bushnell Engage has at least 3 sub-lines in the lineup with various zoom levels
Chinese made 1 inch tube models for North American sales. Choice of Duplex or MOA reticles
Chinese made 30mm models most with exposed turrets. Mostly MOA reticles
South Korean made 30mm models with German number 4 reticle for European Market (can be found in Canada)

Perhaps a dozen models to choose from in total.

Bushnell 4500 4X has only 3 models all made in South Korea and 30mm tubes. Only Duplex reticles

Cheers

While I may not have this exact scope, the Bushnell 2.5-10x40 would be a good all around hunting scope, it has duplex reticle, and relatively lightweight 19.7 oz for a 30mm tube scope. It also has awesome eye relief of 4.3inches and a forgiving eyebox. Im like how the posts of the Duplex crosshair are thick for low light prey targetting but the inner crosshair is thin for precision target practice at the range. I own the 1-4x model and I'm happy with it other than I wish I bought the 2.5x10 instead so I can shoot more precisely at the range, which is where I do most my shooting.

My friend has an Engage 3-9x40 illuminated 1" tube scope on his .30-06 Browning BAR hunting rifle which I've used several times. It's glass is clear and bright, no complaints there, but it has less eye relief 3.4 inches and a less forgiving eyebox. On 9x it's very finicky to get behind. It has illumination, when my friend remembers to shut it off after using it, which is never. Illumination is not daylight bright which I find is a feature for lowlight hunting in my opinion.

Engage is solid but somehow seems more budget than the Elite 4500. Even the anodizing of the aluminum on the Elite is slicker feeling and a deeper black.

You should be able to find the Elite 4500 2.5-10X40 for arond $350 or so. Sometimes less on sale or on the EE.

The Bushnell Elite 4200 is a very fine scope but the 3.25 eye relief can be problematic for heavy recoiling rifles.
A friend has a silver one mounted on a stainless Tikka lightweight in .300 WSM and every time he shoots it while hunting he gets a gash over his eye. He brought it to the range and I passed on shooting it, and I shoot a lightweight heavy recoiling .375 Ruger caliber rifle!

Cheers

I have experienced the exhilarating “Weatherby Eyebrow” more than once over the years. All but one time it was because of a scope that was without adequate eye relief.

Have ordered a 4500 Elite 2.5-10. Thanks for your help.

Best,
Ted

The scope is here and the eye relief is amazing! Everyone I show it to says the same.

Only problem is it came with one inch rings instead of 30mm. Called Bushnell and they are sending the correct rings this week.

Stay tuned,
Ted

Your's came with rings? Was that a special bundle or something? My 1-4x 4500 didn't come with rings.

Cheers

I have a .308 Norma Mag in need of a scope. I have been eyeing up one of these. It doesn’t seem to have the following of some of the “premium” brands. I believe that at this point in my hunting and shooting hobby I would be the limiting factor not the scope. I am interested in a follow up report after a few boxes of rounds down range.

Fuzzy, I received a call from Bushnell today.

The 30mm rings are all packed and ready to go. However, the Canadian outlet is no longer operating and Bushnell waits until they have a truck full of orders before sending them to Canada where they are then carried on by FedEx.

Gentleman said they should be in Canada first week of March.
