I have a Bushnell 3200 3-9x40. I have it zeroed at 100 yards at 4x and its bang on. When I zoom it in to 9x at 100 yards it shoots about 5-6 inches high. Is this normal? Does it automatically adjust for distance? Or is my scope just a POS? Any input would be appreciated.

There's a possibility that your 'bang on' is a degree or two still on an incline at 4x. If that's so, when you crank it to 9x, any variance you had would be magnified also. Or, send it back to Bushnell and they'll make it right. I've got 3200s on all my hunting rifles, never had an issue.

Thanks CX, that could very well be true. Just seemed like 6 inches was a lot to me. Maybe I'll zero at 9x and bring it back to 4x and see how that works.

For starters you should always zero on highest power, and 5-6" from low to high magnification is not normal. The optic or your rifle has issues. Shoot from a rest preferably with front and rear support and have someone else shoot as well. If the problem persists its gear related, if it varies between shooters then its a shooter problem.

I've got more Bushnell scopes than many people have guns. I've had no problems what-so-ever with any of them.

Me to, I have about a dozen right now, even some great Banners.

That's just another one of his negative post!! You would have to look along time to find apostive one, if possible. Everyone is getting used to it.

I'll ask this again. For those who "love" their Chinese/Bushnell optics, if you had the choice of any Bushnell or an S&B/Zeiss/Leupold/Nightforce/USOptics/Trijicon which would you pick? If your choice is anything other than Bushnell you're a hypocrite. I'll ask this one as well. If you turn your rifle upside down with that Bushnell and drop it on the ground and I drop my rifle with any of the above mentioned brands, which do you think will suffer damage or loss of zero first?

Highest magnification offers the greatest level of precision, and there will be some POI shift as power changes. You should also set your optic in its mounts on highest power in the shooting position you will use most often as eye relief will change as well.

Still spewing the all Bushnell scopes are Chinese crap I see. Your credibility goes down with me every time you propagate something you know is not true.

I have a few Bushnell, amongst others.
I went on search for a good scope for my varmint rifle, ended up with a 6500, there is no other scope that can match the features of that scope, add to that the amazing clarity and I am one happy shooter.
It took two falls, once I landed on it on a frozen plowed field, directly on the scope, every orifice of my gun and scope was packed with snow, ice and mud. cleaned it and it was still dead on.
Another time leaned my rifle on a tree on top of a farmers rock pile, while setting up my decoy I watched it tumble down the pile. A few nicks in the scope, but again, cleaned and stayed true.
I make my living off that scope, I didn't go in to the purchase with a budget and still chose the Bushnell for this application. No regrets.
I'm not brand dedicated, but this scope can't be beat, and it wears the Bushnell name.

Maybe I should mention guys, that its not a new scope by any means. I've had it for years. 4x - 5x is all I need for deer hunting. Just this past season i tried to reach out to further distances (at the range) and thats when I discovered the issue. And what exactly is parallax?

First scope I picked up was a Leopold varmint, right out of the box it had a frozen zoom ring.
Came on here to see if it was a common problem, found a sticky at the top of the optic section dedicated to Leopold warranty, didn't exactly instill confidence.
