I bought 3 of these cameras from Cabelas.

Memory cards:
I had a guy tell me I should get 4GB. Is 2GB ok, or should I even consider 8GB?

I see Lexar brand memory cards for sale. Is that brand reliable?

What would you buy?

Btw, I bought Lithium batteries because they supposedly will perform in all temp extremes. We'll see how they pan out.

I have an 8gig for my cam. It holds about 6000 high quality pics if I remember. I leave one camera way up north for months so I went that route. Should say somewhere on the cam or in the manual about SDHC, it might not read it if its not mentioned

So what kind of footage or images do you guys get out of these. I see these things all over the place (in stores), so they seem pretty darn popular. Are the images and footage clear enough in most cases to determine whether its worth the time to scope it out?

I should check youtube, someone probably has some stuff posted, just curious what the stuff looks like.

One of the guys from work has one of the older Bushnells and he's got pics of a BIG whitetail buck, taken at night. Pics are very clear, definitely good nighttime pics. Leaves no doubt as to the size of the deer!!

He's also got a bunch of pics from daytime of a herd of elk. Those pics are colour, very clear.

His camera is quite different from the new cameras that I bought. It's my understanding that the cameras have made a significant change in size. Don't know if the pic quality has changed.

I bought the Bushnell because I liked the name, reputation, and it's got a tested 1 sec trigger time. Not the top rated camera according to reviews but good enough for me, and it was available.

Anyway, I've read the camera manual and it is compatible with either SD or SDHC format, Max memory size is 16GB. I just have to find a source and a brand name that I like.

I ended up ordering Kingston 4GB SDHC cards from an online supplier, off eBay. I went with the Kingston memory card because they supposedly will perform reliably in temps down to -25C.

Make sure you hide your camera very well, people around here are getting theres stolen on a regular basis! I had one stolen last year.

I bought a used one on ebay, bought a 3 pack of lexar 2gig cards at walmart.

Set it up, got the blue screen of death, thought I got screwed. Did some searching on the web and found out that the camera does not like lexar cards made in KOREA. I bought 3 of the exact same cards at walmart in the single pack. They look identical, but the fine writing on the back says TAIWAN instead of KOREA. BINGO! they work!

If you find you have issues, try other brands. I have also read that cards over a certain size (6gb?) don't always work in these cameras either

There are plenty of images posted on this forum from others trail cams. Most are in this section (hunting)

There are also alot of pics in the photo gallery section, in a thread called "post your trail cam pics"

Although that thread hasn't been bumped in a while.

I have the 8MP Trophy Cam

I need a full covert trailcam. Not so much for the bucks but more to find out which teens are bonking in the cozy confines of my upper garden(& not policing their condom wrappers).

Would the Reconyx HC600 be the best for that little assignment?

^ There is a website that did a review on all the trail cams on the market and the Reconyx had the best overall score of any camera.

I put out 2 cameras the other day. Will check them in a month...
