Bushnell vs Vortex

I think Vortex has made a few mistakes in the past, but I also think they are pretty smart people and they learn from their mistakes. Not once have I heard of someone having an issue with a Vortex product that wasn't rectified almost immediately. So far, out of numerous products, I have not had a single problem due to a design or manufacturing defect. I had one issue due to operator error, and they replaced the scope no questions asked.

There product line is solid, with reasonable prices and an excellent warranty. I will be a loyal customer until they give me reason to do otherwise.

Let's remember that just because products from two different companies are being made by the same manufacturing facility, doesn't mean that they are made to the same specifications, or to the same quality control limits.

My suspicion is that Vortex have no optical technology other than the e-mail, phone number, and order book for Light Optical Works in Japan. Same deal unfortunately with Bushnell, Weaver, Nightforce, and others. The good news is that LOW does produce quality products. But, it really is a mistake to think these are all different companies. They are just order offices buying from the same supplier.

Ron,

so true ... but will the truth be accepted that s another story ...

i have had problems with my new vortex, had a brand new crossfire reticle twist after 10 shots, yes it twisted went from a + to a x emailed vortex and explained my dissappointment, they will be sending me a new optic as soon as the old one is in the mail as well as a set of complimentary rings! Nobody here is disputing the fact that the glass may be manufactured at the same facility. But if Vortex is marketing the same product as Bushnell for 3-400$ dollars less with a way more attractive warranty policy, that's where the value is...no?
My impression of the OP is that he is looking for bang for his buck in mid-line optics. We're not talking S&B or NF here. Sightron and Vortex are companies that are shaking up the scene, offering amazing value for the money.

Yep, its about time somebody came along and gave these oldtimers with all the market share a kick in the pants. This will be my 4th Vortex product and I've had 0 issues with the other 3. By the way if anybody wants a better price than retail on any Vortex scopes PM me :D

One thing I've learned over the years is that there is no free lunch. Do you really think Vortex goes to LOW and gets the same product as Bushnell for $400 less? I'm sure Bushnell provides much more volume to LOW and if anything gets preferential pricing. So, I'm thinking if you believe you are getting a $400 discount with Vortex on the same product, then we probably should have a talk about Santa Claus.

It is much much easier to believe that companies like Nightforce add $400 or more to the same product and then try to pass their excessive profit off as "quality".

Is that like when Ford slaps a Lincoln logo on an f150 and raises the price by $20k free lunch? Same vehicle with gold badging and bigger tires isn't it? I think if you compare the ad dollars alone Vortex probably saves millions and makes millions in referrals from their warranty which sucks with Bushnells "one year unconditional exchange".

FOR THE RECORD, YOU SIR ARE THE ONE WHO POSTED YOU BELIEVE L.O.W. MANUFACTURED ALL THIS GLASS! :jerkit:

I have owned and fielded most of the mid-priced scopes in this discussion. I can visually discern the differences between the models and companies marketing them. I don't need someone off the InTranets quoting something he read on the IntrAnets to replace personal experience.

I am sorry if any of my comments elevated this discussion beyond a little friendly banter. I like Vortex Optics, I also drive a GMC truck, drink Innis and Gunn beer, and I love raven haired girls. Different strokes for different folks.

It's GOOD!

Puzzling why the OP asks for opinions on Vortex vs Bushnell and then bashes anyone who suggests Bushnell might be better. Another thing I learned a long time ago is "If you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question."

So far it seems everyone suggest the Vortex over the Bushnell?

I only bash people who can't simply say if its better optics or not but rather try to make themselves look smart and try showing they know something others don't. Who cares what you read and where? My question was if you looked through both, which one is better a Bushnell 32-4200 or Vortex Viper. That is all. Not which company makes who's glass like you've been talking out your a$$.

Just because a company saves money, doesn't mean that they charge the consumer less for their products. To the contrary, you're probably paying Bushnell more for the "brand name"...
