Bushnell Won't Give Warranty Told them to Shove it up their *ss

what kind of bushnell scope? 3000,3200,4000,4200? or maybe one of thier low-end scopes? If it was a low-end bushnell... well, you can't expect a lifetime gaurantee on a 100$ scope.

You can if they tell you that your $100 dollar scope has a lifetime warranty. When I took my scope in to be replaced the dealer told me they would send it in because Bushnell's have a lifetime warranty. I didn't even know that. I thought the scope was toast. We will see what happens.

I picked up an abused Leupold scope at garage sales fully knowing they cover anything for like $40 some idiot had twisted off both adjustment knobs and the gas leaked out. In less than 2 weeks a fully reconditioned scope is delivered to my door no charge.Harold

I've been ranting for years about the lack of warrenty service I've experienced with Bullsh!itnell but what really angers me is when they accuse customers of product abuse!! And from what I've personally experienced and heard from other now "enlightened" consumers, when they don't feel like actually honouring their hokey "lifetime" warrenty, they just accuse you of abuse and basically tell you to stuff it. They could learn a lot from Leupold.

years ago i sent in an older busnell scope. the retical was broken but the tube and glass looked perfect. i was told it was abuse therefore not covered. but if i paid full list price they would send me a replacement. i had the old one sent back and i threw it in the garbage.

Camp Cook: As bad as it sounds - Bushnell isn't the worst. I sent a scope to Bushnell and while I had to pay shipping at least they honored the warranty (3200 4-12x40mm AO); I think I had to pay for parts or something. Nikon wouldn't even honor their warranty unless I provided a receipt (lost it after two moves) for a pair of binoculars with no offer of even purchasing a new set - however they were willing to let me pay over 300 bucks to have them repaired (the binos were about 200 new) at least they were nice enough to pay to ship my binos back. Nikon has the worst warranty in the business period.

As for Leupold having the best warranty, they do have an excellent warranty system but they have screwed me around before too. I custom ordered a Mark 4 M3 3.5-10x40 LR/T which was improperly put together - (I paid for 1/2 min adjustments but received 1 min adjustments) and when it was sent back to the factory, it came back with a big black paint fleck on the lens even though it had the certificate from the factory saying everything checked out including optics. I had to send it back to them to purge the scope and remove the black fleck. Basically I paid 1700 for a custom scope that I couldn't use for 8 months (Mark 4 can only be serviced in the USA) and I was out shipping 2 times to the USA not including the ass pain of filling out the export certificates (which in Leupold's defense they did help me fill out).

My experience exactly. I still have that "top of the line" Scopechief IV BDC with built in Prismatic Rangefinder that they returned after accusing me of abuse. Years previous to the scope issue, I sent a pair of Bushnell 10x50 bino's to their repair center in New Westminster along with $5.00 after dropping them. The ocular lens busted and they repaired the bino's with no questions asked. After I recieved them, the barrels were so out of calibration, you couldn't look through them with both eyes so back they went. I phoned them after they recieved them and was informed there is nothing wrong with those bino's and they sent them back to me. I still have those broken bino's and between them and the scope, might one day make a video for Utube featuring Bushnell products being humiliated/raped/destroyed by some el cheapo "made in China" brand product...lol. Chaulk up another point for the useless warrenty expressed by Bullsh!tnell.

Gee, I love these kind of post.

I've owned Leupold for over 20 years (No, I'm not that old, but my dad forced me too when I was young and stupid.. Glad he did :))...

OK, back on subject. Earlier this year I got to send my first scope for warranty (an older M8 2x EER that had seen it's fair share of magnum loads... and had something that had gotten loose inside)

Anyway, the experience was pretty painless... a quick email to their customer service... the scope was sent to their service department... 2 weeks later the scope is back, as good as new!

I might not 'need' the warranty and service for another 20 years... But it's nice to know it's there!

I heard that you can just put a broken Leupold under your pillow and it will be fixed in the mornin.

I like Leupold but I have a feeling everytime you buy one you pay for insurance. The thousands that take out the insurance and never use it help to cover the cost (and more) of those that do use it.

I've always been fairly pragmatic whatever the discipline. Bushnell Elites seem to stand up against their equivalents extremley well. Depends on your objectivity.

This thread is not giving us any real data on overall defects, quality or customer satisifaction. But if its fixed in the mornin then who can argue. :)

Wow have things changed over at Bushy. Years ago I sent in a very old 3x9x40 Trophy, right before deer season, and they sent me a Elite 3000 two days later by courrier, before I even mailed my broken scope back to them.

I have also sent back cheap bino's and had new ones sent back to me, and only a few years ago I sent back a old Tasco spotting scope I got from a friend, and they sent me a new bushnell to replace it.

Its to bad their warranty service has gone in the crapper.

I have an old Leupold M8 4x that I bought about 30 years ago. The reticle would not hold zero.

I called their customer service and explained I wanted to get the scope fixed and was prepared to pay a reasonable fee. I expected to pay because I had long since lost the receipt. They told me it's free because of a lifetime warranty. So I sent it to that place south of Calgary.

Took about 3 weeks - good as new.

I have an Elite 4200 Bushnell on a pretty heavy kicker - so far, so good. If it fails I hope my experience is Leupold like.

I have never been happy with Bushnells warranty service or quality. B&L used to be much better. That said I now buy Leupold, Vortex or Burris, no more Bushnell, ever.

Brian

I sent in a B&L 3000 3x9x40 that I shook loose with my .375 H&H carbine shooting it off the bench.

I had to call them at least once a week but they fixed it and sent it back to me in less than a month.

I sent in a Bushnell 3-9x in the fall of 2007 that was purchased in fall of 2001, no problem at all with getting it fixed. Rather than telling them to get bent, I'd have explained that their "deal" was no deal at all and you'd rather just have a cheque or another free scope. People are generally kinder when you aren't nasty to them.
Same deal for me. I just threw it in a box and mailed it out with a letter explaining my situation. they sent me a new scope no questions.

Bushnell Canada is aware of problems in their warranty/repair system. Bushnell head office in the USA has had a slowdown in sales and thus have cut back on personel and will not allow their Canadian portion to expand (even though sales in Canada are up). Bushnell has aquired many additional lines like Uncle Mikes, Butler Creek, Stoney Point, Millet, Simmons however they have not increased their warrranty support in Canada to accomadate the additional work that has been generated. Most recently produced Bushnell optics have been very reliable especially the higher end models in the Elite series. Leupold service in Canada is second to none. Korth Gruop who reps and distributes Leupold exclusively in Canada rarely takes more than two weeks to repair and return warranty problems. To be fair to Bushnell they make an extremely wide line of optics that goes from absolute entry level (where the majority of warranty claims are from) to middle high end like the 6500 series while Leupold makes only high end and up so their problems are a much lowere percentage which you would expect on higher end more expensive optics. Also Korth Group id a privately owned company with the owner on site while Bushnell Canada is owned and controlled by the corporate offices in the USA. Phil.
