Buying a firearm, no paperwork?

I heard the rifle registry was removed, i purchased an sks at a store and only had to flash my PAL for half a second and then pay for it, is there no paperwork whatsoever now?

Since the demise of the LGR, all NR rifles and shotguns do not require any gov't paperwork.
The retailer may record your info in their store gun log but that is not for gov't use and not all retailers will do this either. Can Tire is known to record NR info. My LGS doesn't.

Nope! By the rules, it should be but you only need to introduce yourself if you want to join the EE.
I didn't introduce myself until about 3 months into me joining CGN.

I would have thought they would have to verify the license still being valid. For all you know he could have been issued a court ordered firearms prohibition last week, last month or last year.

the receipt you got for the purchase is all the paper work that should be done , nothing more .

I would have thought they would have to verify the license still being valid. For all you know he could have been issued a court ordered firearms prohibition last week, last month or last year.

there is no requirement for that , the person selling only needs a reasonable expectation that it is valid ......

it is NOT his responsibility to start phone every government agency to make sure you have been behaving yourself .

if you have a court order prohibition placed against you , it is the court and the rcmp's responsibility to make sure you no longer have a valid pal .....

I have no idea why so many people are so quick to be doing the work that the rcmp are required to do .

Don't forget. You should call the MTO to verify that they are taking their new gun home in a legal car with a valid drivers license.
