So if you purchase a firearm from an individual from an ad, and there is no stipulation in the ad about certain parts pictured not being included in the deal, what do you expect to receive?

Do you expect a magazine to be included?

Do you expect the sights to be included?

Do you expect the scope bases or rings to be included?

The magazine for sure. Fixed iron sights for sure... aftermarket peep sights or mounts or rings or scopes should be clearly negotiated prior to a deal being struck. With Ruger rifles, I expect rings to be included as they are factory provided, and when selling a Ruger rifle, I provide rings.

If it doesnt mention "nothing else included" I'm expecting everything in the picture. Unless there is like 2k worth of gear on a 600$ rifle priced at 500$.

Make sure to clarify with sellee before closing the deal

I expect everything required to make it go BANG once. Magazine is nice but not a must. Sights/sling/rings/bipod etc are all accessories that should not be expected unless it is specified as part of the package.

Spare magazines are not a must... but ONE magazine is a must... unless they are specifically and clearly stating "NO MAGAZINE" included.

If there's a picture that includes accessories, unless otherwise noted, I'd assume included in price.
I'd only assume that until I asked, which might be my first question. I wouldn't be disappointed if "not included", if price reflects so.

A magazine is always included, that's how guns are sold.

If things didn't go as planned, you have to share blame. Communication goes both ways.
The pro is, now you know better.

Minimally it should include what was included when it came from the gun store (regardless of when that was). Anything "less" should be clearly indicated.

So if it came with fixed iron sights, they should be there. It should include the magazine.

It would not generally include the bases/rings, scope, sling, bipod etc unless detailed in the ad.

When making the deal to prevent bad feeling later it would take one message to clarify "exactly" what is included in the sale.

If I was buying a gun that requires a magazine to operate I would expect it to be included unless I was told otherwise, a gun that came from the factory with sights and they were missing I would expect to be told they are missing. Mounts and rings would be an extra. I wouldn't expect to be included unless specified.

A reputable seller will indicate what is included with the rifle in the ad. A buyer is responsible to ask all the necessary questions regarding the purchase. Communication goes a long way and can save a lot of headaches later.

If it came in the original box then it should be included. But when in doubt you should negotiate everything included in the photo. If it's specifically enumerated then there is no room for misunderstanding.

This about sums it up. If it's in the pic, should state if something isn't included.

Magazine is part of the gun, a spare isn't. If the mag is missing the gun is incomplete and should be described that way. Scopes, rings and bases, slings, and bipods are accessories. Ammo is ammo. Everything that goes with it should be listed and or I'm assuming it doesn't come with the gun.

I will go with this. What kind of seller does not list what is included if the picture is ambiguous?

I expect what came with the rifle from factory, unless otherwise mentioned. So if it came with rings (Ruger) it should be sold with rings. That being said, when I sell a Ruger I specify rings are included. If the picture has scope, bipod ect. I would NOT expect it to be included if not mentioned.

Did you have a deal go bad?
