Exactly, if you don't own a restricted anymore, why do you need restricted status? CFO logic, not mine!

because you paid for it and took the course , it is like an endorsement on a licence.
anyone that has had it revoked for not owning one should be complaining to their MP....

Might have changed but, at least in Ontario, there is no requirement to belong to a club/range for ownership transfer.

See decision in R. v. McBain.

W. A. Jenkins J. of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice states:

"...I find that s.28(b)(I) is disjunctive and permits the Chief Firearm's Officer to issue transfer approval without the applicant being a member of an authorized shooting club."

BTW I googled this 2002 quote and found several testimonies where ON CFO disobeyed to follow court order.

Another Ontario horror story that may help.
I recently requested a transfer of my first restricted, they did not ask if I was a collector or target shooter, and I am NOT a member at a range. Transfer completed in 4 business days.
