Buying black powder in Canada..........

Hello Gents.

My Ferguson breech loader....when it's finished from Rifle Shoppe parts.....is going to eat an European powder that works best - Schuetzen 3F.

Problem is, finding that powder in Canada. I found that the only Schuetzen dealer in the entire country is Raynershine in Saskatchewan.

So, I'm getting three pounds, at about $33 a pound. Sadly, getting black powder shipped to you is the killer. The shipping cost is $140 alone.

Oh well. I'm not enthralled with North American powder, so German powder (as it was with the original Ferguson rifle in the 1770s) is the way to go.

Have you tried Brian Densmore in Middle Musquodoboit? He may be able to bring it in cheaper with his next shipment, worth a try.

Goex isn't my cup of tea, but I remember Brian's name bandied about. I'm partial to Schuetzen, so I'll see if he can grab that for future needs.

Another supplier in Saskatchewan - Hillfolk Musket Supplies in Senlac, SK.
Black powder clubs usually have a pony express network to supply Black powder to their membership.
 
Well bugger you came along 5 years to late. I lived in Liverpool then and had three lbs of it. Gave it away. Along with 10lbs of goex.

Another vote for Rusty Wood. I ordered 25lbs of Goex FFG from him and CanPar to me in Alberta was only $30. When I purchased last year, he also had some Swiss and Scheutzen powders to choose from.
 
Hello Gents,

I just received my 3 pounds of Schuetzen FFFG powder. It arrived by Purolator, which is owned by Canada Post. The post office ships guns, and powder comes by truck. After taxes, etc. it worked out to $92 a pound!

When it's time for more powder, I'll have to buy in bulk, and have fellow shooters buy the surplus from me.
