i was wondering has anyone had any trouble ordering reloading equipment from cabelas.
thanks drae

Cabelas, Stateside, won't ship reloading equipment to Canada. U.S. retailers require a licence to be an exporter. Don't think Cabela's has it. It's not the same as the U.S. export permit. Components require the export permit.
In any case, there's very little available Stateside that you can't get here with less fuss.

Cabelas now owns SIR (the old Sydney I Robinson firm). So no trouble, just order through SIR in Winnipeg.

You can order press and dies from Cabela's without any problem - they are "tools" (I order these in january 2008 without any fuss).

They will not ship brass or bullet though, as they can be used in a firearm.

You will have to pay GST and custom fees, as well as broker's fees (they include these in your order, no bad surprise).

What exactly are you wanting? I have gotten lots of reloading equipment from the USA and it was shipped as tools. All kinds of dies and autoprimers.

And what is not exactly the same thing?...Cabellas owns SIR but SIR retained the mailorder dept.....Anything you want from Cabelas is shipped thru SIR. Thier store here is carrying the same stuff I seen in the State's stores.

Not really. SIR has reloading components and equipment but don’t carry everything like Cabela’s does.

SIR doesn’t sell Berger bullets and believe me I’ve asked.

SIR doesn’t sell Winchester brass. All I see is Remington brass on the shelves.

SIR doesn’t have a long list of different brass cartridges like Cabela’s.

SIR doesn't sell brass by the bulk in packs of 500 pcs. like Cabela’s

SIR doesn’t sell Lapua brass like Cabela’s

SIR doesn’t carry the Reddings line of reloading equipment like Cabela’s

Cabela’s (SIR) have come a long way in the clothing line and boots but lack behind when it comes to reloading equipment...

Well, not exactly correct.

I ordered most of my reloading equipment for Cabela's, including my lock-n-load hornaday press, dies, and other bits and pieces.

They won't ship bullets or powders, but reloading equipment is no problems.

Admittedly, there are some things that SIR does not have in stock, but do realize that the store here is only about 1/10 of the size of the stores down south. They cannot stock it all until they build a huge store. Give it a chance....they will take care of that matter.

I’m not as optimistic a you for Cabela’s (SIR) but time will tell.

As for the Winnipeg store not being as big as Cabela’s down south, I would say the Winnipeg store is approx. the same size as the Cabela’s in East Grand Forks. I know that the East Grand Forks is one of the smallest Cabela’s but definitely has a better selection of probucts for it’s size...

cabelas wouldnt ship my rcbs rock chucker supreme kit across the boarder, they would ship a lee kit though?!!?

It's hard to get good help anywhere nowdays. Cabela's probably is no different in that some of the people they hire will be less than fully functioning; try again on the rock chucker

Cabelas Sends a ton of reloading equip to canada and I can show invoices , as with the statement

thats true but With one key word that makes the difference "PRICE"
I can buy a new set of dies for the price people are trying to get for a used set , My chargemaster combo was $150 less including shipping for what I could get it for here and the list gose on

when you order from cabellas, firmly indicate that you want the item shipped usps (united states postal service) rather than ups as usps doesn't charge the extra $50 brokerage fees. i've been screwed twice by ups, who can go f#@k themselves, and now go only with usps,

Amen to that my friend.
I had similar problems with things I ordered from the US.
The companies customers service/order desk tries to get things quickly to their customers, hence the use of UPS. I had to tell them that once it got to the border, things slowed to a crawl and got expensive, so IMHO, the extra time and charges for faster US delivery was lost on us Canucks.
I have everything shipped US Parcel Post and I notice no difference, time wise, between UPS:puke: and the US Postal Service, except the postal service is cheaper.
