But, if you go to Questar order form, they need your place of birth for "non-restricted firearms only". It seems everyone has different store policies.
Compare to buying firearm in store, buying firearms online is so much complicated. I had bought 96F in store before, and all they asked were DRL, PAL, and club name. That's it. So much easier.

spoke to CFC today re my newly purchased gun, and it depends on the province if you have to belong to a club or not, in ON you do not have to belong to a club. i do not belong to a club and they had no problem with my transfer.

In ONTARIO? You sure!!??!! You got a restricted without either belonging to a club or being a collector?
Please explain how. This is almost unheard of.
she asked if the purpose of this was target shooting, i answered yes, and then she asked for the club name, i said i do not belong to one but am going to join after i purchase this restricted, she then apologized and said for ontario you do not need to belong to a club, and said she thought i was in a different province. and that was it.
Interesting in Ontario the only reason for you to have a restricted firearm is for the purpose of target shooting ,or collecting, the only place to do that legally is at a CFO approved range you will need a ATT for that and only gun clubs can apply for your ATT

how much is an average membership to a club?
Theyre too much. I went and upgraded my PAL to restricted, that was 50. I got a pistol and joined a club totaling 1050. Shot once or twice, and was required to renew my membership again, which is another 150, for i can go shoot a couple more times this year and be legal. All the hassel and costs associated with a pistol hobby is turning me away from something i enjoy doing when i have the time. I wouldnt be surprised if the future pistol enthusists only consisted of the rich. These growing regulations and unnecessary costly requirements really need to come to an end. Whats next? CNG becoming a pay site. The average Joe canadian like myself needs to take action. I for one know a better place for these stupid range members - up the rose smelling asses of the ones who implemented this cash grabbing sceme. I'll be out shooting my SKS in my back yard while i still can.
I agree that the cost and hastle of joining a club takes the fun out of it for alot of potential shooters. I have a friend who is trying to shoot his handgun at a range for over 1 1/2 years now. He wanted me to join too and i told him i would have my own range before he took his first handgun shot at the range. I was right, about 7 months later i had my own range approved and up and running. No fees, no waiting, no hastles, no wasted time on the on the road driving and MY rules! Everyone should do it.
The club I am joining won't take new members until March, but I am in the process of getting my first gun transfered to me from the EE and the RCMP said it shouldn't be an issue. I will update with a full success story once I am actually holding the siggy in my hands!

Were would one to find regs and rules needed to build ones own range?sorry to hijack the thread. I to ran into this situation myself.
I got lucky and got a range membership in about three weeks.but it is serios pain in the a%% and I've thought about doing some digging in the back feild!

Got my papers including a temp ATT to bring
the gun home, and I'm not a club member
anywhere yet.

Does anyone know about this sort of rulings in BC? I know my dad has had his revolver since the early 80's and has NEVER been a member of a club although he had to jump through hoops just to move it from one house to another everytime he moved.
