Buying restricted without belonging to club

Does anyone know about this sort of rulings in BC? I know my dad has had his revolver since the early 80's and has NEVER been a member of a club although he had to jump through hoops just to move it from one house to another everytime he moved.

Probably not an issue unless he wants to buy a new one. They ask for it at the time of transfer. (I am talking about the Western Provinces here).

I agree that the cost and hastle of joining a club takes the fun out of it for alot of potential shooters. I have a friend who is trying to shoot his handgun at a range for over 1 1/2 years now. He wanted me to join too and i told him i would have my own range before he took his first handgun shot at the range. I was right, about 7 months later i had my own range approved and up and running. No fees, no waiting, no hastles, no wasted time on the on the road driving and MY rules! Everyone should do it.

URGHH! Why do you "I have my OWN range" guys post on here!!! I am SO FREAKIN JEALOUS!!! It's not fair!! I'm assuming you live on a nice stretch in the back 40... Can you tell me what you needed to do to get an approval??? If you want PM me - or post it here if you want, I'm betting a lot of other ppl would love to hear it! :cheers:

Sadly for me the closest "gun club" is the Williams Lake Rod & Gun Club in Williams Lake. I only get into Williams Lake once or twice a month and can only be there long enough to do grocery shopping and eat lunch.

I'd like someone to create a very DOWN TO EARTH and STEP BY STEP on how to do this! My dad's ranch is on 160 acres and I've been dying to do this....

From Firearms act...

19. (1) An individual who holds a licence authorizing the individual to possess prohibited firearms or restricted firearms may be authorized to transport a particular prohibited firearm or restricted firearm between two or more specified places for any good and sufficient reason, including, without restricting the generality of the foregoing,
(a) for use in target practice, or a target shooting competition, under specified conditions or under the auspices of a shooting club or shooting range that is approved under section 29;

Nothing says you have to belong to a club in any province. You can get guest passes or be invited to shoots and they have to issue the STATT or LTATT. The only requiremnt is that the range be approved by the province you shoot in. I shoot at my friends club in another province and I have LTATT to that range. I am NOT a member of any club in that province.

If the deny you then take them to court and you will win. Usually if you just threaten to go to court they will back down becaues they KNOW the real deal, they just don't want you to know.

Don't worry boys it will all be over in a couple months when cons take a sweeping Majority and scrap the F$%K out of the whole silly law anyway.

I don't think the Conservatives would scrap the current laws regarding restricted weapons, But at least their election promises are not all out banning of Handguns (Paul Martin was a tard in power).

I ordered and received a restricted pistol all online, never spoke to anyone, did not belong to a range at the time and it was sent in the mail to my door.
