I'm sure in 1993 the Tasco Super Sniper was the bomb too. 26 years later optics have improved...
Yet it still stands out from the crowd in all the areas mentioned above.

Dude - we get it. You have a massive SWFA boner.
Can you not accept that others don't think they are close to S&B? Should we bow before your vast optical experience and knowledge? Your fanboy is showing.
I think you can find better kit in Canada at better prices. Hell even the Bushnell Elite fixed 10x is $250-$300CAD, made at the same plant in Japan as the SWFA.
I'd still get some kind of variable personally, much more versatile.

SWFA is quite well known for their CS and how well they back the SS line. I know guys who've damaged their scopes beyond repair, in at fault accidents, and had their scopes replaced by SWFA. No big headaches, or risky gambles...You also have to take into consideration on, what if the scope is defective? Many electronics do fail to function properly. You will get screwed, if a company does not honour out of country (US only) warranty, which you have to send it back to US to file a warranty claim and deal with shipping, customs, ITAR, etc. all over again back and forth. It'll cost you even more and a big headache for such a risky gamble. With the extra cash wasted on shipping, customs, brokerage, fees, taxes, etc., you could have used it to buy a better more expensive high end scopes for the same cost theoretically. I honestly do not think it is worth the risk, which there are other better scope options out there on the market available in Canada with a peace of a mind warranty coverage, in case of product failures.
Bushnell Elite and SWFA SS fixed powers are not made in the same plant, never have been.
The Tasco SS is not exactly the same as the SWFA SS, improvements were done when SWFA bought the rights from Tasco. Also why would you recommend a Hakko scope made by a company that hasn't been around for more than a decade??

The SWFA aren't even made at LOW?
That's disappointing.
The Israelis actually use their gear hard, so something they tested actually means something vs the "Navy" lol.
Still not seeing any legitimate examples of anything better in the same budget that people keep referring to.
That's the best way to go. Get together with a bunch of friends or shooting acquaintances. Wait until SWFA's Black Friday sale and split on the shipping, etc. Purchasing that way saves a pile of cash. My first two were ~$350CDN to my door. So was my kid's first one. The 6x MQ I bought last year was closer to $425- mainly cause only a few of us went in on the buy, and our dollar's value bites.Group buy?
I didn't expect the thread to be so hot...Thanks everyone
Group buy is a good option.
Another question is 10 or 12 to buy?
I've seen alot of review over the last years and it really seems like a very nice scope for the money.
They are often compared with higher end scopes. Definetly a reliable, rugged, long range capable scope.
From what I saw, the best pick is the 10X. With the 12X and 16X, reviewers says its less clear with those magnifications.
My personal choice would be the 10X with rear focus. If I'm not mistaken, this model is the original design over the newer side focus model.
The group buy is a good idea ! I will probably grab one... As Littleboylefty said, we should probably wait untill a special event discount.
The special deals will be like $50 off from $299, but we have to wait until year end. Group buy is definitely a good idea...
They hold things for no apparent reason, for no apparent time line. Probably the same morons that held my front diff bushing for a week then tried to charge me storage fees!I just ordered a basic 10x42, import fees were $80, all is well,
BUT
I just got word that customs is holding the package for 30 to 60 days for some unknown/undisclosed reason, it's even in Calgary already. Has this happened to anyone else?
