Got back late last night, We were out 9 days , called in two bulls who busted us by coming in further downwind than we gave them credit for, One we pulled into an area but didn't win the jetboat race to in the morning.
This guy we worked late one afternoon and pulled down off the hill, next morning we drifted down, tied the boat up and got into position. 20 minutes later I called once and he came right in. I dumped him in the neck with a 168 ttsx out of a 300 win mag dropping him and my partner Al ran up and gave him a 286 grain partition from his 9.3x62 to the chest for good measure.
Nice big body with a 44 inch spread, not a monster but will be tasty I'm sure.

I've been asked a number of times how to Smoke moose meat in the bush for packing out there's not a lot of information
I learned how Smoke meat very young two guys can pack a moose out in one trip if the meat is properly smoked and sum what dried I would imagine if you completely dried the meat One guy would manage just fine (you can smoke Moose elk caribou bear and deer but it's a lot of work )
I like to use a lot of black pepper to help keep the flies off the meat but with the smoke it's not really necessary just something that I've always done

Oh yes it is, managed to put some good dents in the hull , bend the grates all to heck and some impeller damage to boot when I took a wrong turn and saw the rise in the river with the really white frothy stuff coming over the rocks but in for a penny in for a pound. It still hauled out our two fat asses and 3 quarters of moose one trip even all buggered up but didn't dare let off the throttle though. Over all I'm really happy with the boat and its a well balanced package. Used about 30 gallons of gas for the trip while other folks were running to Watson lake to fill their tidy tanks every second or third day. In all fairness I wish it had a windshield on those -10 mornings.

The boat will looks way better with some war wounds now you have to get the boat or name !

Know that "wrong channel" feeling all too well. "Well ####." Worst is trying to remember every channel on a long run upstream when going back down, and you can't read the water the same going down. Had to beef the bottom of mine up by an extra 1/4", for 7/16" total now. Ali-Craft in PG is worth a talk to for that.
Here's my bull, taken just a few days ago. I used my R93 in .375H&H, one shot placed low into the shoulder just off centre as the bull trotted towards me, grunting insistently, ears laid back, looking for love in the wrong place...by far one of the most exciting 5 seconds of my hunting career. He was 30-35 yards away when the TTSX hit him; he veered off and made it into the willows about 50 yards before collapsing. Calling moose into range is fun; calling them into whites-of-eyes range is incredible fun. 
The bullet smashed the big bones, obliterated the heart and came to rest somewhere in the guts; it was never found.

This guy was a fighter. He had several tines broken off, and numerous fresh wounds on neck, chest and shoulders. He also had a nasty gash on his butt, apparently placed there by a rival who slashed his ass after besting him in face-to-face combat. His antlers show the traces of scratches made by opposing antlers. I was actually on the gun staring at a spot 100 yards away, where another bull was grunting and thrashing brush. As I waited for him to step into the open, this brash contestant appeared and rushed towards me from the opposite direction. I'm glad I got him...still can't wipe the goofy grin from my face...but I can't help but wonder if the unseen noisemaker was the bigger brute who whipped this one. I'll never know.

Little recent fun, he's alive and well. Tempted to call him to a cedar shaft, but wish he was a little bigger. I need more meat in the freezer like a hole in the head, so will likely just keep playing with calling. But you never know what will come in.

And the moose was taken on day 5 of the hunt...the shirt looked clean, but it smelled...well...
