Well due to the opinions I heard on the other thread, I'm naming this rifle the israeli bastard. Oh and so far, this bastard can shoot!

The Rifle.... and rest.

The Ammo....

CBC 75 brass, reloaded by a shop I guess. Not the original CBC 75 sketchy spanish 7.62 (google it).

The target, I knew it would shoot high, not sure how much so I set it up like this.

Getting ready....

And Boom. 10 Shots in a row, others (inked) where while I was finding what to aim at to get it on this target, I ended up aiming at the lowest target from the last pic. I Have a tall sight to install to line it up. Please note, this is not 2 5 shot groups (I wish) each 5 where split up between the upper ones and lower ones.

Launched a few at these (300 Yards).

Video to follow, it's uploading!

Kind of hard to judge where it will hit, holding under on the grass, shooting high, plus bullet drop lol.

Tryed for the small one, I will wait till I adjust my sights and go crush those, not just the 36" one lol.

Oh and everyones favorite front end, I bring you... the Israeli bastard front end...

So, fix/adjust sites, proper bands, handloads and I'll be back!

Nice. The "bastard' not only shoots it looks good too. The wood and metal seem to be in very nice condition. Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking?
I wonder if some load development wouldn't shrink those groups. Any plans to reload for it?
Further updates would be great.

That is a remarkably good group for open sights.

A taller front sight will make aiming easier.

Another trick is a flat-bottomed aiming mark. I use wear centers for big rifle targets as 100 yard aiming marks for iron sights.

Here is a pair of them used to make a 300 yard aiming mark. The little squares are for scoped rifles. I aim at a corner of the square.

I was very happy with the performance! It will definatley be better with a taller front sight. I was holding about two feet under the POI lol. I Agree about the flat bottom targets, I'm thinking half circles once I get my POI and POA to be the same at 100 yards.

Handloads are a must. This trigger (timney) is ridiculously good.

Thanks again Ganderite!!

Thanks guys.

Too funny, by this time last night I had 20 people telling me my machine gun barrel basket case Mauser looked funny!

I'll keep this post as I get it together.

I kind of think I will just zero this with the taller front sight and that will be it. Then hand load and shoot it till the rifling wears off lol.

CGNer Ganderite can tell you all about Gold Cross Ammo. Yes it was shop loaded from pulled CBC surplus that landed in Canada after the explosive hazard became known. He made a pile into 155gr PALMA loads and it was sold to DCRA shooters in the early 90s. I might still have some in the locker.

Nice shooting.;)

For your feed problem, are you pushing the bolt forward and down with enough speed? Mausers need to be racked fast and hard on loading so the claw can snap over the cartridge rim. If you do it slow (like on a R700) it will jam.

Also check if the spacer block is in place in your rifles mag well (due to shorter round after conversion to 7.62nato).

I find my finicky with the loading, if the round is not in the mag, just the right way it won't feed. Mines a Brno

Mausers are designed to feed from the magazine. Loading singles directly into the bore is not proper procedure and the extractor will not engage the rim properly.
