Anyone know if the CF ever issued a top-swivel kit for the C7 simple sling, similar to the ones issued with the M16A2?

I'm aware Vickers makes an M16 sling adaptor set, but I'm curious is anything was specific C7 issue.

Too bad really. The US A2 top-mount system front mount is flimsy and will wear the park off your front sight, but it at least makes the basic sling a lot more useful, allowing carry in the ready position.

Now with a triad mounted, you could mount a magpul MS2 adaptor to one side and use the M16A2 butt loop and get a pretty decent sling setup methinks.

The patrol thing was supposed to pretty much acomplish the same thing as that setup. On all my tour I have carried a C8 and most guys have installed their own Rails to allow more options for mounting slings ect.....

Exactly. what they did is replaced the traditional sling with the patrol sling... What a POS!

Most guys just kept the old one

I had to route through a bin full of patrol slings to find a nasty old regular sling. Little bit of time in the washing machine and it's acceptable for use now.

They should also monitor Brownell's to see what is being shipped to Canadians in Afghanistan.

You'd be amazed how many guys I know have been purchasing magazines, slings, lights, sometimes even stocks.

The really telling thing is some of our guys were trading Americans all kinds of stuff to get used and beat up ACOG scopes, and taking the chance of being charged by putting it on their rifle.

Be pro-active and start working on your UCRs. It is your responsibility to identify issues rather than just 'This kit sucks.' Be specific, work with the Chain of Command to get this ear-marked.

I don't know if you were referring to a specific incident of kit trials, talking generally or making assumptions.

I have seen guys taking the basic 2 point and rigging a simple 1 point from the sling point at the back of the receiver

This seems to be an approved action on the C7A2

( we used to do the same thing with the FN, looping the sling round the stock just aft of the receiver, when we did what was Called FIBUA back then. But if you were short.. this tended to not work well due to the length of the rifle)

+1 Best use of the 2 point sling is to make a single point sling out of it.

The 3 point sling is especially awful for us lefties. We have to place the horizontal webbing on the right side of the rifle face to face with the ejection port.. always fumbling with it to free the ejection window.

You guys didnt get the ####ty blackhawk single point slings that had the hk hook attachment? You would attach them onto the the rear sling mount and the hook would rid up to the top and your charging handle would get caught on the sling. I would attach the sling on the rear mount then zip tie it down to the bottom so it wouldnt ride up. If that makes any sense.

Whoever procured the sling with the wrong attachment end needs a kick in the head.
