Cabelas CCI primer ripoff????

My first time at Bass Pro in Moncton last month I paid 76.00 for a 1000 CCI-BR4 primers it was last box they had, I ripped them out of his hand I did not care how much they were at the time. They are just to hard to find in our area.Call me a sucker for paying the inflated price.

How much should these cost per 1000?
I think I just bought my last ones there.

They cost whatever you are willing to pay. Did you not check around or look at their price prior??
The last couple of years some powder and primers I could not care less what they cost just finding some to buy is a score
Especially Alliant powders
Cheers

For handgun and plinking ammo, I just buy the cheap Dominion Arms primers for $28/1K. They used to be $25./1K. Still better than $45/1K for CCI.

i bought 8000 of the dominion small pistol primers. i used 2000 of them and get a lot of light strikes (average one in each mag). the problematic primers were so hard that the striker barely made a dent in it so there is some inconsistency with the metal use to manufacture these primers. for about $5 more i can get S&B which ive had no issues with so far (went through 2000 as well) and for under $40 i can have cci. im staying away from the dominion stuff from now on. wanna buy my leftovers? :D

Yikes. Knock on wood I've had no issues with the DA ones as yet. You didn't lighten the hammer springs on your pistols did you?

I was there getting something else for my son. I always walk past the gun area. I bought the last brick they had. After running them through the till, I almost gave them back. Funny how the price varies across Canada. I paid $59.90. My business will be going somewhere else for primers.

It sure does vary across canada and I have always found the best prices in Ontario. Down east that price would be inline or cheep and we don't have a lot of spots to look so buy them when we see them. I don't look at price the last 3 years
With the last one being left sound like others are having no issues with the price out your way either
Cheers

If you need them, you need them. For me it's nice just grabbing a brick here and there as I am on a limited budget. But I should be getting them from somebody cheaper, and in larger quantities.

I've fired several thousand of them (LP & SP) without a single problem. I'm not saying that there can't be the odd dud but I honestly believe that the majority of the incidents of light strikes are not the primers at all but the reloader. If primers are not fully seated (and it doesn't have to be more than a thou or two) the first hammer hit just seats the primer and the next strike sets it off. I don't know how many times I've seen this happen and I believe that virtually all of these incidents are reloader error rather than faulty primers. A dirty semi-auto chamber or cylinder face or chamber in a revolver will give the same result. The first hit drives the case forward and the case movement reduces the firing pin impact. The second strike sets off the round.

I found this started happening to me when I switched to a progressive press to reload 38 Specials for my S&W 686. I had always used a Lee hand primer with virtually zero problems. When I went to the progressive I was getting one or two non-ignitions per cylinder. All of them would go off on the second strike. I adjusted the primer punch on my press to seat them deeper and the problem went away. And that was with Winchester primers.

Yah I find $45/1k is average and a fair price and I like CCI been using it for 20years no problem and I don't want to change brands. But yah Previous post I buy up Alliant powder when ever I see it and still its like finding Unicorn poop.

If you willingly pay for a product how was this a rip off sound to me like an uninformed buyer, not the stores fault they are only looking to get as much for there products as possible, and I think they got it
