Cabelas Chinese SKS sale

Nope.. A few months back a solid CGN dealer had a SKS sale .. And we were all dissapointed.
So I'm doing the SKS slot machine through Cabela's... Can't be any worse

Many solid private sales from someone that bought many years ago and selling some now on EE. I have a few that are pristine and still in Cosmo that I have been thinking of selling lately just like some others that list them on EE.

I must be a little troubled:) I'm kind of looking forward to another down and dirty cosmo cleanup:)

I'm waiting for the warm weather as I use the hose and air compressor in my de-cosmolinining process. I'd clean a rifle of cosmoline for a bit of $ or beer depending on what rifle/pistol/person. Costs me about $10-20 in materials, chems, water, hydro etc... to clean each rifle I figure. I get btw 1-3 rifles/pistols per bottle of Mineral spirits depending on how greasy they are. I'd prefer to clean cosmoline from a unused rifle than take someone elses clean on unless I knew they did a good job and the firearm worked well. ,

So far I have cleaned cosmoline from Mausers, Mosins, SKS's, SVT's, TT33's, M57s various types or each. If anyone has cosmoline questions with any of these i'm happy to answer them.

got mine Wed. took it apart last night. Stock has some dings / a couple scratches but no cracks or heavy abuse. Not one number matches, receiver built in 1964. All blued and barrel bright, looks chromed to me. All tight (had to "tap" the safety lever to get it unstuck but all works well now. Dripping in oil with some grease and no rust. Its surplus .. at $199.94 all in (Alberta) great price for a plinker. If I saw this at a gun show for $200 I'd grab it and smile all the way home (until the wife caught me trying to sneak it downstairs anyway … )

On bringing new guns home.......tell wife or GF or both you are going to the range ........bring empty case..........return from range put gun in locker.

last year they had the Russians on for $199 black Friday.

I picked up a Russian in tapco on sale. $350. and i got to pick through a few to get what i wanted.

i called cabelas to see when the sale ended and even the guy on the phone said, go pick it out in person
its mail order roulette.

Bought this at Cabela's in Ottawa yesterday for $214 with the tax. I knew I had to hand pick it because otherwise, I would have been playing the SKS lottery, and there were some pretty ugly SKS guns that the clerk brought out. Numbers match with the exception of the trigger group and magazine. The metal parts were covered in cosmoline, so I had to clean that up. I can't for the life of me get the trigger group out. The safety is on and I used a hammer and punch and still no luck. Maybe there's too much cosmoline in the trigger group? Unlike my Russian SKS rifles, the hand guard pin I could punch out, so I will be buying a metal cheese grater looking hand guard. I also couldn't manage to get the rear sight off, but I want to put a raveneye peep sight onto it in the future. This gun came with a user manual and a green oil bottle. Onto the pics...

Looks real nice! I wish we could order down here, I have a good few Russian sks( actually selling a few to cut back,), but would like to have a half descent Chinese copy to look over and shoot/compare! I like the sks platform, no matter what country produced them!

Does anyone know if the star on the stock is NVA?

It's Chinese. Not very common, but seen on stocks from a handful of Chinese arsenals.

the NVA star has no circle around it and it has the number '1' inside the star.

You got a very nice looking rifle.

What is the arsenal number and serial number range?

I played the lotto... and kind of lost. Only bolt carrier and trigger group match. No cracks in wood thankfully, but had some horizontal play. Whatever, shimmed it up with some paper for as a temp fix. Nice bore. But they sent it to me missing the rear sight along with rear sights spring.... I called them about it and they pretty much told me to get bent. Other then the sight missing and the customer service I am mildly satisfied with it. It is an sks after all. Next time I think I’d pick in person or just get one off the ee.

Bought 2 in case, both are more than decent.

Blued, no rust at all, tight.

Both all match except mag and trigger group.

One as the stock full of transport marks.

Real pleased for the price.

I bought 2 just in case also..Kind of a wash.. nothing great ..1 stock is worn through where the bayo rests on. other has a slight crack
No cosmo ..just the oil from a freighters crankcase and lots of grit.. have to immerse and wash, scrub off
Some what matching #

I'm happy with mine. Cleaned the last of the Cosmo off today. The break down was very stiff. Firing pin has a different number, the rest matches. Stock has a blemish near the sling mount. 416 factory code.

Bought one of the Chinese ones in the Tapco stock at Cabelas. On sale for $329. Not an overly great sale or anything, but I wanted a Tacticool one to go with my stock Russian.

I'm happy with it. It's in great shape. A bit of pitting that has been blued over in the OP rod channel (behind where piston rides so no functional issue.)

Should be a fun gun!
