Cabela's no longer lists SKS's on line

So folks, don't know exactly what's going on, maybe this has been the case for a while, but Cabela's is no longer listing SKS's online. I remember they had that whole SKS shop thing going on, and now...gone.

I'm just a little weirded out because when the whole 10/22 mag issue came up, I remember hearing that some Cabelas had gotten rid of their stock before the public was made aware of the change...here's to hoping that isn't the same reason they ditched the SKS.

Ideally they'll list them again when (if?) they bring another batch in.

I could see Cabelas just getting tired of the headaches involved with selling them. Cabelas is much more accessible to the casual uninformed gun buyer that doesn't know these rifles are surplus or the cleaning required after shooting corrosive ammo (or the fact surplus is corrosive). If you could have seen some of the reviews on their website you'd understand what I'm saying. They probably had lots of complaints about getting "used" or "beat up" rifles.

Just my 2 cents

I feel like this is closer to the truth than anything. They've had them for years at like $239 or $259 for the laminates, but everywhere else was selling them for $150-$200 so they sat on them forever. I think this last sale was just a push to get them out of the system for when inventory time comes in January so they don't have to waste any more resources on counting crates of rifles that have sat for 3 years not moving.

They just don't sell around here in Central NB. It took Sussex, NB CT 4 years to move 10 SKSs and 5 Mosins. There is still one Mosin there at 169 and its not moving. Savage Axis fly off the shelf, Expensive Henrys and Cheap Mil Surplus sit.

I noticed the same thing with the cabelas site a few days ago.

I also understand that Canadian Tire was to stop selling SKS's eventually. Anyone see if they still have them (they've never had them on their website).

I can't imagine a worse loss to the Canadian market as far as affordable centrefire semi-auto's go.

I just bought one from Canadian Tire yesterday, they still had lots and 3 different grades to choose from. Wholesale sports though has also stopped selling them, I too believe for a reason similar to what Stripes has suggested but I didn't ask.

The guy at cabelas in abbotsford said Friday morning on black Friday they had 500 sks when I went Sunday around d noon they were all sold out.....

At 189 and 500 qty. That's almost 100, 000k in sks sales. There has to be a demand for them.

Do you need an SKS for a Christmas Stocking Stuffer?
My local gun store has a couple on the shelf and prolly spends, but let me know and I'll one for you.
EMT works for me when if you need one.

My guess there will be another sale on Boxing day as well however there new parent company Bass Pro does not deal in surplus, perhaps they are aligning with corporate policy?

Thanks for the offer, but I have one already. I may buy another though...but I'd want a Chicom. Good thing is Cabelas never sold those anyways, so I'm not losing much.
