cabelas selling supergrade sks?

I put a call in to Cabelas Customer Support this morning as well, and spoke with a product expert. I was told the same thing. Although the description has changed, the rifles are all apparently 1952 or eariler, and have been selcted as higher quality rifles.

I was told to look it over when I pick it up in store and if Im not happy with it, or if I feel as though it doesnt match the original description, to simply refuse pick up/receipt of the rifle and to call Customer Service.

I'm still confident they aren't intentionally making false descriptions and delivering an inferior product but Im comfortable in knowing it sounds they'll do something about it if I'm not satisfied.

Or we have higher standards? I don't know about you, but I can count to four. I opened my in-store pickup order that was supposed to be 2 boxes of 525 Federal .22 and 4 boxes of those Troy Landry CCI 300 packs. I got 3.....

I've dealt with the customer service counter just as much as the regular cashiers in the last four or five months. That IS bul****t! :bsFlag:

You can count to four! Cool story bro! Bet you can fart O'Canada while peeing too!

You have done nothing but prove that they hired a few imbeciles in
their warehouse.

This time last year Cabelas opened in North Edmonton - they had a few SKS sales and I had the chance to hand pick through dozens of SKS rifles at both the north and south location.

All rifles in that batch were in Good-Excellent shape (wood and lami's). Many were light refurb's but about 1 in 10 were non-refurb'd rifles (most 1955 or letter series) - I bought several as the price was under $200 - they came in a great cardboard box, were clean and came with all the accessories.

I kept several and provided friends with a few or their collections as well.

I doubt their original 'as advertised statement' but I wouldn't be surprised if there are some nice rifles in the batch.

I'm not going to flog a dead horse - but there is WAY too much talk about refurb/non-refurb rifles and 90%+ of the people I find who pipe in don't know what they are talking about...

Just an update....

My rifle is still on route... Left Calgary for Ontario on the 6th. My charge to VISA was not even posted till yesterday! In any event Im away from home for a few days so I won't be able to pick up in store till next week.

And in case anyone was wondering, it looks like the so called "Super Grades" are now SOLD OUT.

Actually I can't fart O'Canada....

And what have you done? All I said was my last order was screwed up...and that I've dealt with customer service MORE than the regular cashiers in the last almost half a year! Implying that I've made multiple purchases (and I have) that have been messed up. Wrong amount in an in-store pickup, wrong items in an in-store pickup, getting charged too much, getting charged too little....the list goes on.

If Cabela's is your go-to store then good for you. I posted my experience so others can make an informed decision for themselves. Error after error leaves me feeling little love for Cabela's.

Glad you could use the "Reply With Quote" button and make yourself seem smarter than the average bear...

Crapbelas pays the same for them, they just set aside the nicer ones and charge more. Worked there seen em do it. They come in a crate of 15 some are real beat up some are nice. The guy who does the purchasing doesn't know ####.

Just bought one from Westrifle. It appears to have been never fired and probably the nicest SKS I have ever seen (perfect bluing and perfect birch stock). Say whatever about the Frankenpinned magazine, I've never had a malfunction with a Frankenpinned example, can't say the same for examples that are pinned through the follower.

Sounds like Cabalas is making up their own marketing terms. I've been buying sks rifles for three decades and never heard of Supergrade. I wonder what they would call my un-issued and never fired rifles?

WSS has had "Supergrade" SKS' for a while now as well. Someone is pitching the term to them when they are making purchase orders.

Here in Nanaimo,we ORDERED 2. SUPERGRADE.....took about a week for them to come from a THEIR warehouse in Calgary.......
Each came in a heavy cardboard ''GUN'' box. sling,3 stripper clips,1 ammo pouch and a BLACK PLASTIC oil bottle with new case.
#1 is a 1954 factory refurb. all matching numbers(Everything) blued barrel. I piece of wood repair on stock... A very nice example.... black bayonet.... but its a shooter.
#2 is a letter gun (Backwards N after ser.# . no markings on TOP of bolt /carrier cover. all numbers match... TULA star by s/n on receiver. this one is EXCELLENT SHAPE,FACTORY BLUING, no dull spots on stock.... the nicest REFURB. I have ever seen....I will hold onto this one, without shooting it , for now.... well worth the $249 Plus tax.
#1, well,i guess its worth the price.

p.s. took a friend who wanted to buy an sks to a couple local places in town...went to WHOLESALE SPORTS.... second gun we looked at was a 1953 IZHEVSK (izzy) Even with the unmatching mag,. it was a good deal at $229.

Cabelas advertised THEIR 6 day SKS sale as UNISSUED 1945 TO 1952 RUSSIANS........ Why bother informing their staff that IF they have ANY 1945 to 1948 Russian SKS,they ARE collectors pieces.....you and I ,who have spent anytime researching these carbines KNOW chances of finding an ORIGINAL,NON REFURB. FACTORY UNISSUED is about 257,843 times greater than winning this weeks 50 million lottery. frankly,i like nice factory refurbs. You have a LIKE NEW carbine.

OMFG.......these things are still just SKS's...they made hundreds of thousands of them. I bought my first Chinese SKS in 1985 from Checkmate sports in Quebec for 130.00!!!!!They haven't gone up much.........They are still just a plain old run of the mill SKS. This collecting and not shooting them and now the super collectors grade crap is getting out of hand if you ask me!!! just my two cents.....I'm gonna duck and cover now...

I declined mine on pickup (IN-STORE) and received a full refund.

The rifle was in fact very clean and nice, and ALL matching (so well worth $249) BUT it had a blank top cover which for me was a deal killer, as I already owned very similar SKS's and didnt need another one like this.

FYI... The ad has since been revised again as the reference to the YEAR's of production has now been edited out completely... So although clean rifles, they could end up being from any production year and from both aresenals. (Also may get black bayonet)

Oh... Just to confirm... You can ONLY request a refund if you chose IN-STORE PICKUP since if you decline the item before you actually "take it into your possession", they cannot enforce the NO REFUND on Firearms policy. So for me, I have my money back... So no harm, no foul.
