Lets hope they do. Rulings like this are a direct indicator that the system is overwhelmed if they cannot get to these cases timely. As a direct result there will potentially no longer be a consequence for illegal actions....which is the whole point of the justice system. Society is going around the the bowl and down the hole......

IF you think about it, it would be in all criminals best interests to commit MORE crime given the system now. That would clog up the courts and more of them would get off. Aren't we supposed to be making crime LESS appealing by punishing those who commit it?

No. What you want to say is that it would be in their best interest to get caught more often.

"Presumed innocent until proven guilty" is the phrase. You can't be proven innocent by the courts, they can only find you guilty or not guilty, bit you are always "innocent until proven guilty".

You are correct, I was talking about what the courts say. According to our Charter you are "innocent until proven guilty", yes.

A buddy of mine is an electronics forensics expert/investigator with the CPD. He spent 9 months gathering and compiling evidence against these idiots from their cell phones and/or computers/email/social media accounts. He didn't get too much into it (obviously) with me, but did share that the evidence against them was "pretty damning". He's livid that they essentially walked. 9 months of solid police work to get a conviction against real criminals...and they walk. He also feels that there is a STRONG possibility that they'll be right back at it again.
