Buying a new sako in 308.

which of the three should I sell to fund a kickass scope for the sako?

The 30’06 is the biggest overlap. You will have a good varmint/light big game rifle, a great big game rifle and one more with a bit more range or horse power if you need it.

But then I have hunting rifles in .223, .243, 6.5x55, .270, 30’06, .44 mag, 45/70 and .375 h&h. Don’t listen to me... haha

Sell the T3x in .30-06, for the same reason that if you were keeping only one, it should be the T3x in .30-06. (And, you'll still have a T3x.)

While logically the 30-06 is the one to go, I'd dump the 300 wm, cause i prefer guns that kick less.... Because of flinching when they don't. I have seen friends miss easy shots that likely was due to them shooting the magnums. Just my opinion

Thanks for all the input. It’s been exactly what I was expecting. My favourite of the bunch ( and the one who’s shot most deer) has been my 06, so I’m hesitant to get rid of it. I’ve owned 300s before and always tend to skip over them for smaller. If I hunted bigger (like bear or moose) I’d take my 45-70 if I felt under gunned. I think the magnum will go.

I’d say 300 as well. A 308 can take moose at a reasonable distance as can the 30-06.
I top out at 308 and 54r, I don’t hunt or shoot areas needing anything larger. In fact my battue in 308 is my go to for most chores.

I would sell the one that you have the least connection to and do not use as much as the other two.
Tikkas are great rifles, but I am confident that you are going to love your new Sako!

At the end of the day, if you have a great 150 or 165 gr load for your 308 and a great 180 or 200/220 gr load for your 30-06, and hunt at reasonable ranges of 400 yards and less, than you will not find that you are missing your 300 Win Mag. And that includes game such as bear, moose and elk. There have been more moose shot with a 303 British and 30-30 Winchester than any two other cartridges in Canada. I would safely say that the 30-06 and 308 would rank right behind those. They are easy to get within range of, and if you find yourself inside 300 yards with your 308 and a 150 or 165 gr bullet, you will not be under-gunned! Place your bullet well in the heart/lung cavity and you will be enjoying moose meat all winter!

I was going to say "sell the -06" before I even noticed that you are getting a .308 as well. How many functionally-indistinguishable hunting rifles do you want?
