It's been a while I guess....forgot about this thread.
We ended up purchasing a bus last spring. (1200 bucks), needed a brake line for the safety. Passed the emissions with flying colors.
It's a 1993 72 pass, GMC School Bus. The mill is a Caterpillar straight 6 turbo diesel. We cut all the seats out and used the foam for the beds. Put some wooden racks on top, hitch on the back, painted and ready to go.
It's not fancy...but it is functional. The trip with 6 or 7 guys is a blast!! Last year was it's maiden voyage, Oh what a party!
We picked up a hitchhiker, some young kid from France who was packing across Canada. I was sleeping in the back at the time, but woke up when I heard the guys yelling to pick him up.
One of the boys comes back and explains this hitchhiker and says I should come up and "freak him out"!
So, I wait 5 minutes and walk up front in my boxers and other plaid apparal. I looked like I'd already been in the bush for a week!
All the guys say "Hey Man!!" and I return the gesture. I then look at this newcomber at the table. He was a softspoken french kid. Young.
With a stern voice and somewhat cross look I say "Who the phuck are you?!!"
He was a little shaken already... "Softly he gestures and says "My name is Jean, I am from France"...
I reply "WELL...Jean from France...Do you like to 4UCK!!"
One of my buddies yells "Cus Fordy SURE DOES!!"..
He now has a look of complete and utter terror on his face! Oh it was priceless.
I couldn't contain myself, so I introduced myself and told him I was yanking his chain... We dropped him off a few hours later in North Bay. He had a most EXCELLENT time and has plently of stories for home!
Here's a few pics of the bus for your viewing pleasure.
