I bough a lee pro 1000 i try to put that thing together that was a week ago and until now i just brake a decapper pin but i have not be able to load 1 round, can somebody from ajax pickering oshawa area help me to make that press work before i grave a hammer and smash that thing. please even if i have to pay .or trade some carpentry work .:dancingbanana:

Let me start over again with a little bit of help.

I purchased a Lee Pro 1000. I broke and fixed the decapper pin. At this point I tried to reload 75 rounds but only was able to get 25 rounds properly. It would seem as though I am having difficulty to prime the casings. It wont sit properly.
Can someone either give me pointers or refer me to a site as a point of reference, or is there a manual for a priming system.

You can understand I am anxious and when I was unable to do this it did get fustrated, and fustrated that I had received no feedback in 24 hours.

Thanks for those who responded and for the others and their comments about my expressions I`m sure we have all been in a situation we felt anxious to do something we enjoyed but unable to do so, therefore resulting in disappointment or anger.

If you can assist please do so.

thats nice not even 1 person write something and 34 people read the thread, thats why we are the way we are in canada , when you need help everibody drive past by you and press the gas pedal harder jajajajaj shame at you guys

It may have been that 30 odd people NOT from your area wanted to see if they could help. I would drive right there but the roads are fairly poor. :p

I'd try and help but I couldn't even make it through whatever it was you were saying... lol

I would imagine all the visitors were seeing if they could help and realized they could not. You'll find help don't worry!

broke pin

Hi

Check the primer hole in the bottom the brass case, is there two little holes or one big hole. If there are two holes you can not reload the brass, and the primer pin should just be pushed up. You can loosend the collet and push the pin back down.

So you take a shot at Canada because people haven't rushed to your side to help?

From your post I take it you're the kinda guy that doesn't bother to read manuals and angers easily. Great combo in a new reloader.

Pics? Did you seat the decapper pin too low for the cartridge? Is the decapper pin off centre? Pull the ram slowly and see where the decapper pin lands. Are your cases Berdan or boxer primed? Did you follow the instructions on setting up your dies? What reloading manual are you using?

Before asking for help from an experienced reloader, I think you need to go back to the books and manuals that came with the press and dies as well as your reloading manual. Redo everything from scratch, nice and slowly looking for problems each step of the way.

The level of patience you have displayed on this thread, might scare away further help. I know that I'm hesitant to help you reload. From one newbie to another take my advise, if you can't patiently restart from scratch and re-learn what you have to do, and if you can't take the time and be specific in describing your problems and at what stages they are occurring, then you shouldn't be reloading. You're more likely to impatiently build a round that will destroy your gun, blind or otherwise injure yourself and maybe others near you. Reloading is a practice that favours the patient, the studious and the meticulous.

Reloading can be VERY frustrating. Patience is a virtue to be certain. I don't know anything about LEE products, but I do know about making reloading errors, and having to use the bullet hammer for over 150 rounds in one go. Believe me, a calm attitude will get you further in reloading than anything else.

Have you looked for any Youtube.com videos? I find them to be very helpful, when I need to things that the instructions are unclear about. These should get you started http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=lee+1000+pro&aq=1&oq=lee+1000 :)

I have 40+ years of experience at reloading, but my bi-focal X-Ray vision is not good at my age.

What brand of sizing die? If Lee or Hornady, loosen the nut on top, push the rod back down and then tighten. Unless you broke the pin off. if so, buy a new one.

What kind of brass? Berdan or Boxer? One big flash hole in the midde or two little ones? The latter is Berdan and cannot be decapped on your press.

Most of us have had the bad experience of hitting a Berdan case mixed in with a bunch of Boxer cases. A Lee die should survive one such encounter.

Next time you want help, explain enough so we can understand what is going on. A picture is worth at least 1000 words.

We all share our experience on this board and most of us have asked for help.

I'm not a fan of the Lee 1000. I'm an expirenced reloader, but I never could get the thing to work to the point where I felt comfortable with it. Others have had lots of luck with the 1000. I sold mine and went to a Hornady progresive. If you are new to relaoding, I would suggest starting off with a single stage press - just to get a good feel for the process.

Good luck

Maybe it's because you are from Ontario and don't have a WASP name.

Better yet, skip all the responses and give the unit to me. I will fix it and test it for a couple years and then return it to you.

NO CHARGE......... (except shipping)..

I'd recommend that you purchase a decent quality, single stage press. Use it for awhile and get comfy with it and make some good ammo. When you feel adventuresome, try load some on your progressive press, if things go south, just go back to the single stage. In time you will be able to use them both, and you'll say"that Ben is a smart dude". Sometimes i find it more relaxing to reload in my jammies and bunny slippers.
