Can I use .40 cal mags filed with 9mm in IPSC ?

Couldn't you load your first mag with a .40 loaded with 11 and then 9mm mags loaded with 10 from then on?

No. IPSC exemption says 10 rounds. That is the rule. Which is the one rule I was not aware of in post # 1.

You might be thinking this saves time to get your gun in the 10+1 condition but would not be in the spirit of the 10 round capacity rule. In my interpretation.

You are welcome. This was a cut and paste from the criminal code and cbabes link was bulletin 72 from the RCMP further explaining the paragraph from the C.C. The IPSC exemption is for IPSC only. I learned something too.

PART 4
Prohibited Devices
3#(1)#Any cartridge magazine
(b)#that is capable of containing more than 10 cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in a semi-automatic handgun that is commonly available in Canada.

Not if the RO stopped the shooter. If the shooter was stopped, it's either a DQ or a reshoot.

coreyd is correct. Re-read this:

10.3.3 Scores for a competitor who has received a disqualification must not be deleted from match results, and match results must not be declared final by the Match Director, until the time limit prescribed in Rule 11.3.1 has passed, provided no appeal to arbitration on any matter has been submitted to the Range Master (or his delegate).

What if said competitor left the match and can't reshoot? His scores will be reinstated as is.

No he is not correct.

That refers to his scores from other stages he may have shot. If he was stopped on a stage, before he finished, the results from that particular stage will never be used. It's either a DQ or a reshoot. If the DQ is later overturned (like a slow arbitration decision), and he can't reshoot that stage, it's a zero for that stage.

Are you saying we are not required to still score the stage which the DQ happened on?

Not if the RO stopped the shooter. Think about it. He was stopped before he decided to stop. It's either a DQ or a reshoot. He can't be scored. An exception would be a squib, in which case the stage is scored as shot up to that point. But we are talking about a DQ in this case, not a squib.

Of course, you record the particulars of the DQ on the scoresheet.

Thanks. Yes that makes more sense now. I was always told to record the scores for the stage DQd happened but looking through rules couldn't find anywhere it was stated.

Sorry to chime in alittle late. But with the rcmp statement of .50 beo pistol mags pinned to 10 being loaded with .223 ammo for higher capacity rendering the .50 mag a prohibited device.
Would that kinda cross that same line of creating a prohibited device by using the .40 mag in a way that it wasnt meant to be used?

Not to continue the thread hijack, but AFAIK the RCMP put a stop to the importation of one specific lot of "Beowulf" mags as they felt they were originally 5.56mm mags "modified" to hold 5.5 rounds of .50 Beowulf. Others are still coming into the country... Rustywood Trading just sold two HUGE batches of OEM Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf mags in the last few weeks... Both pinned 5/7 and 5/10 mags.
