Can you run a free float hand gaurd on a Norinco upper?

well now you need an AR wrench to get the existing nut off and an upper vice block too. and a torque wrench and grease to get new nut on.....

I picked up an ATI free float kit on my way up to work, it comes with its own barrel nut that the hand guard screws onto.

I promise I wont bug you guys until I get back next week. This was something I was hoping I could do sitting in my room in the evening but its not looking like it anymore.

With the proper tools the Front Sight Base (FSB) can be removed in minutes without any damage to the parts.
The same goes for the barrel nut and delta ring.
Brownells sells an FSB bench block which holds the FSB while you remove or inset the tapered pins.
I simply use several layers of thick cardboard. I build it up to the height of the FSB then use a quality punch and 2Lb. hammer to remove the pins.
A low profile gas block can be purchased for around $30.00.
Brownells also sells a set of upper and lower bench blocks which are great when working on AR's.

On North American ARs yes, not so much with Norinco ones

I have removed dozens of the Chinese front sight blocks and their respective pins. No damage to either the gas block or the pins for that matter. As mentioned before, hit it like you mean it and they will come out with a little effort.
