has anyone tried out the Norinco 1911 45 offered with 1000 rnds of ammo? It works out to about $180 for the pistol.

It is not marked Norinco, so must be some special source/deal. I am wondering how that pistol would compare to teh regular Norc 1911s. I have a Sport and a 2-tine, and both are superb.

Any story as to why they are clean slides? Do they shoot well?
 
I bought one, they are pistols made for a military contract which was cancelled. The gun is pretty decent for the money. Not sure about the ammo as I haven't opened the crate and probably won't until the rest of my .45 is used up.
 
just make sure you buy stocks with the company that makes your favorite gun cleaning products. any money saved on ammo the cleaning supply company gets. not to mention all the extra time cleaning that crap ot of your gun
 
Really cool that they are mil contract guns from 1997 and do not have any markings, $170 for a .45 free shipping 2 mags so far there is 1 that has an issue and canam is offering to take back any pistol you are not happy with, waiting for my 1rst and if any are left by mid june I will be ordering a second!
 
I ordered mine on April 25. Haven't got it yet but I imagine they are pretty busy. Never tried Norinco ammo but I'm one of those weirdo's who likes cleaning guns so if its dirty I don't mind. w:h:

I clean mine after every trip to the range, just for few dollars more id rather fire the clean stuff.
 
does anyone know what country would buy norinco 1911's for their army? i bought one and im sure it will be fine but what country would offer cheap Chinese products to their soldiers? (outside china)
 
Yep, no issues for me. Norinco ammo is reliable, cheap and dirty. Just like the guns.
I too like the process of stripping and cleaning my guns. I like that personal relationship that comes from taking care of my firearms.
I steer clear of the brass brushes most of the time though, because I don't want to ruin my barrels just because I'm a little 'anal' about cleanliness.
 
I have used Norinco .45 ammo and I don't find it any dirtier then some other cheaper brands I have used in the past.It is also very reliable for the price, which is much less compared to the more popular brand name's..

Some suggestions would be: Most African nations, several South American and Asian as well as, possibly, some middle Eastern. Most places don't have too much in the way of domestic manufacturing so are left with American, European, Former Soviet Bloc and Chinese as providers. USA and EU may not sell for a variety of reasons (political) or may be too expensive so that kinda shortens the list down further. Them be my guesses.
 
Ammo is far more expensive than the cleaning products I buy. A 1000 round case of 45acp for about $330 with free shipping? Havent seen anything that cheap anywhere else. And, the brass cases are reloadable. Ive fired 500 rounds of this stuff so far this year and yes, its dirtier than higher end ammo, but in my experience, its no dirtier than super cheap blazer, which is the other stuff i shoot. Price is key for me. I shoot alot of ammo, especially 45, from a bunch of guns. If the ammo is too costly, I cant afford to shoot.

I would interested to know which ones (honestly, not being a smart azz). I have travelled/lived in a few African countires (southern mainly, bit eastern) and never seen a 1911 on any soldier or cop. Many either use South African made small arms (older Star BM's, Z88's etc) or a combo of those and anything ranging from colonial left overs like Lee Enfields right through to SA 'R' series Galil clones or M16's ITO rifles. It would strike me as very odd that a country would choose a 1911 in a non-NATO/Commonwealth standard cartridge especially when they could get CZ or Sig clones for the same prices or old surplus stuff like Tokarevs that some would already have used. I really don't know but I doubt 1911 are being bought up for widespread use. Anyone?
 
If I can sell the gun for $200 or more the ammo works out to be cheaper than my reloads. Norc ammo is dirty and has a sticky film to some of it. Powder wise its not much dirtier than win231 that I had to use up. I plan to reload this brass once assuming I don't get too many split cases.

I dunno, maybe the same country that spends millions on worn out submarines for its navy...

:) There is +-190 countries in the world. Take out the top 30 and that still leaves you with 150 that will probably have no hesitation to buy cheap for their guys.
