Canada Post Love-Hate and All Things "Shipping" Thread

Not to fan the flames of anxiety, but they did manage to turn a brand new Krieger target barrel into a hockey stick on me a year or so ago.
Put that puppy in a vise to see if I could move the bend angle. I couldn't move it... ...must have been run over by a truck.
They also managed to coax a M98 barrel out of the end of a double carton that was quite well packed since then.
That being said, a parcel showed up today in pretty good shape externally. Just one hole in the side.

Dear god, how did they manage that? Unreal. :)

You are so wrong it is stupid... why would you think such a thing? I send and receive over a hundred a year that way... and my post office and my delivery person is fully aware they are firearms.

3.3
Firearms (including imitation and replica firearms)

Canada:

Please contact the Canadian Firearms Centre at cfc-cafc.gc.ca or by calling 1-800-731-4000 to determine whether it is permissible to ship your firearms.

When it is determined permissible to ship firearms, they must be shipped as follows:

Non-contract customer
Regular Parcel with Signature option.

Contract customer
Expedited Parcel with the Proof of Age (18 or 19) option using EST. Visit Section 4.3.2 Mail addressed to children of Policies for an age of majority by province or territory listing.

There cannot be any ammunition in the firearm or in the package.

Bullets, cartridges and other ammunition are dangerous goods and cannot be mailed. These items fall under Class 1 (Explosives) of the Canadian Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations.

Customers who wish to ship firearms must:

unload the firearms
attach a secure locking device to the firearms
lock the firearms in a sturdy, non-transparent container, and
remove the bolt or bolt carrier from any automatic firearms (if removable).
Firearms cannot be shipped via air and cannot have any markings on the outside of the packaging. The customer is solely responsible for meeting all Canadian Firearms Centre regulations.

NOTE:
For more packaging tips, refer to Section 3.2.1 Suggestions for how to package and wrap items of ABCs of Mailing.

I've had cp loose a package before. I went I and said they lost a restricted handgun an I was calling to rcmp to have them investigate it as a theft. Cp found my package within a 1/2 hour.
My package was just tshirts but my tactic worked. Several friends have used it as well with great success

Not to call you out directly, but could you please define your versions of "wrong" and "stupid" as they would apply to the guy you quoted?

(btw...he's correct...just FYI)

Surely not?

Received this package from a CGN member...

... who is still advertising firearms for sale here.

Great packing job! Arrived just as you see it. :runaway:

Back on the original topic, I would not lose a lot of sleep yet, Kurgan. I had one that went from here to the East coast, then back to BC, before it got delivered properly there

Best,
Ted

So.... Ummmm.....any particular reason why a scan through your "feedback left for others" doesn't show a (single) negative?? Jeeze....you'd think that a CGN would want to warn other good people here. Pretty hard to know who not to buy from when there's no accurate feedback left on bad sellers trader ratings....I wonder how many others have been screwed as a result.

+1 You should give accurate feedback..

If it was well packed and addressed clearly it will show up I am sure... and if it is late arriving you can have your mailing costs refunded in full. I use CP almost every day - nothing lost or damaged.
I have seen CP "revise" their expected delivery date as a shipment progresses. (only noticed it once, but not something I have paid much attention to) Another minor point, only the shipper can claim for a refund/partial refund, so if you are the receiver you'd need the "vendor" to be willing to walk the claim through Canada Post and then refund you.

Look again. There is a negative and a neutral.

Folks have differing levels of tolerance for the frailties of humanity in others... I discern that Ted is a pretty magnanimous individual... and then others are on the opposite end of the spectrum; "surly & self-centered"... I too, am curious who that seller is, because with a carton shipped in that fashion, they have no business selling or shipping... I hope we never cross paths.

The other issue with the feedback system, is that retaliatory feedback can end up hurting you more than the perpetrator.

EE feedback aside, life is much more serene and fulfilling if you are able to let things go, and trust to karma or judgement day (as you prefer), for the ways of the wicked to be repaid.

I didn't mark it. Hopefully, everything is ok. Personally, I hope it is on its way back to me... and I'll ship it with a reputable courier.

And who might that be?
Do you have an account with Fed-Ex or DHL or heaven forbid the UPS guys guys ?
Unless you do your not going to be knowingly send a firearm via those three I just mentioned.
Was the box wrapped in plain brown paper... I read part of the initial post last-night after being up for 18 hours and minute details escape me right now.
I had a string of bad luck with CP last summer some small personal items from family back East (as they say trouble comes in three's) each time the tracking showed it enroute and each time it showed out for delivery it arrived the next morning.
Suffice to say it was a PIA, but the items arrived (late) but intact.
Being a Union Thug and knowing the Secret Handshake didnt help me any either in getting my concerns addressed any faster.
A beer and some firearm internet #### will sooth the day...

.

This is a myth perpetuated by the uninformed...and it's that type of misinformation which yields our feedback system next to useless. Perhaps a refresher on the rules is required?

A seller can *not* leave retaliatory feedback. In fact, they (sellers) can not leave a negative at all. It's right there in black and white...see for yourself.

I made the mistake of a positive rating on two sellers prior to receiving the firearms only to be royally screwed in the end... Ki11ercane being one of them. I agree that some EE sellers need to be made known so others don't fall victim to their scams and BS.

I was screwed by a seller on the EE - a real wacko. I should have known better as he had a previous negative rating but I figured one negative isn't the end of the world. Anyways I left him a negative rating, he tried to leave me a negative but I reported it and it was changed to neutral.

The sad part is, I have had two other members since pm me about them also being screwed by this clown - but both left him positive ratings because he threatened them - this is total bs. So he keeps on screwing people....

Now if I have any gut feelings, or warning signs - I walk away. The chance of a good deal isn't worth being screwed.

Geesus don't start that dirty truth thing
