Holy sh*t Batman, this is old new, so old that we all know that the replacement program was cancelled...

Do a search, plenty of old threads on this

I thought they scrapped the plan after no companies were willing to build with the conditions our government wanted.

Didn't someone write a letter too the defense minister, about he pistols. In the letter DND may reconsider destroying the pistols and selling some too collectors.

huh. september 27th 2011 ottawa citizen, didnt seam that old to me .
surprised if they were even able to make a decision that fast.
only 7 months to say no

i dont know ..in other news they say the contract has already been given to colt CANADA ,for 10000 pistols

Source on that? Last I heard was that the whole order went down the tubes because nobody wanted to give their designs to us to build a pistol domestically. (Another result of our gun laws/culture is small manufacturing base for domestic production of arms for the military)

Nope, made-up rumour - the original tender was withdrawn 'cause not one company was willing to give-up all their manufacturing and technical info to Colt to have 'em made exclusively in Canada.

Afew more years with the HP until they get replaced; right behind the F35, subs & armoured vehicle replacements.

What? What are you talking about? DND is lightning fast making decisions and running with the best equipment. Up until just a few years ago, our soldiers got to drive convertible Rabbits (VW/Bombardier iltis) around Afganistan until they started to use that damn G Wagen. Ahhh, those were the days...

Yup, pistols AND Ranger Rifles - when you're ordering 10,000 units (a small order in the scheme of things) of what is basically a consumer product (pistols and bolt action rifles) calling the shots isn't really in the cards. It didn't take long for the manufacturers to set things straight. If they did what France did with it's pistol order (combined orders for police forces -RCMP/military/government in our case) it would appeal to a wider range of suppliers because the volume would be around 40,000 units.

As above, 10,000 is peanuts for any of the major manufacturers.

Glock I believe is around 100k per month, down from 200k a month 2 years ago.

I'm a little surprised they aren't giving them to the ANA, that's what they did with a bunch of our old C7s.

Was kinda hoping that the decision on the new pistol was going to come soon, looking to pick up whatever they choose so I can practice at my range. Hardly ever get to shoot the sidearm in the reserve world.

Not trying to hijack the thread but what is the 'ANA"?
Thank you for the knowledge!!

the CF has little military syndrome when it comes to buying new kit

The big shots in NDHQ think companys will bend over backwards for tiny orders

since we are on the topic and hypothetically speaking. If DND was to sell their BHP's off...
I'll post 2 questions.
1. how much do you think DND would sell these pistols for?
2. how much would you be willing to pay for them?

I'll say,
1. $500
2. $300

I wouldnt pay no more than $200, for a excelent quality one.
I dont nessasarily like the high power .
If i was able to aquire one, i would shoots a couple mag fulls of ammo just to make shure it fired, and then put it away. for memorabillia .
