the purpose:
1. Most of the Canadian version P22's stabilizer will loosen after a few cleaning. This will hinder shooting accuracy.
2. If we choose to take the stabilizer off, the gun will look very ugly.
3. Some people choose to cut the barrel to barely legal 105mm or 106mm (cant remember), but there is still about 2" stick out of the barrel (ugly )

I hope you find a way to make a fake silencer for it. I would definitely think about another P22.
 
Any fool can look at it and see its not a real silencer because it doesnt have the guts inside that a real one would.

This is something that you want to be very careful about, especially if you do not know how a silencer is defined or what the effect of adding an empty tube to a gun might be.

I have tested an empty silencer tube. No guts at all. And it would most certainly fit the legal definition of a silencer in this country because it does reduce the noise of the shot.

A tube is a tube.

A silencer is something that reduces the decibels of a shot.

A tube may direct the blast and flash forward, but will not, can not reduce the DB. If anything, if you put the meter in front of the muzzle, it would increase the db because the force is not as difused.


I love it when people jump all over an issue condemning it based on their own misguided feelings rather than any sort of fact or common sense. The CGN community has gotten used to it from the Anti's, but there is just far too much sabotage and misinformation from within our own ranks on here.

I am not going to post on this thread anymore because it has gotten far too off of its original topic and has become somewhat of a sewer for fear mongering.

Google is a wonderful thing people.

The Criminal Code of Canada is out there for you to paruse at the library too.

Dont listen to mindless internet babble. Go look it up for yourself and form your own conclusion.

That way, when somebody asks you about the tube on the muzzle of your gun, you can in clear conscience, give them the FACTS.

A real XM-177 moderator was in fact designed to reduce the muzzle blast of the shortened barrel and is designated as a silencer by the BATF. US law includes a 3dB limit for sound reduction, where CDN law does not.

And you of course have tried this? I have and can tell you from personal experience that an empty silencer tube will reduce the noise of the gunshot and thus be deemed a silencer with no guts.
 
What is the point of putting a fake silencer on a firearm? Are you then supposed to jump around the room pointing at the mirror and whispering "PHHHT" PHHHT?

It's more aesthetically pleasing than a fake compensator.

Like the first post said. Its more to balance out the look of the gun with the weight removed. Imature, silly, call it what you want, but the only person that should be looking for a new hobby are the trolls on here. Its fun and he's not hurting anybody.

Now, What is the thread on the muzzle of the P22?

I can make one easy enough that will fit a 1/2 28 thread if you have an adapter. But I wonder if I have a tap to fit that thread.
 
There you go. That looks like it should work on the Canadian version of the gun too because it alows the thread to be in the middle of the tube.

Thats alot easier than finding an M8x0.75 tap and making one. And cheaper too!

Maybe... but the big question is how much space is left between the slide and silencer. Remember, our barrel is considerably longer.
 
I think it is a badass idea! How many people on this site by #### just cause it looks cool? I read threads about guys with Bullet-Proof vests (Civilian), ghillie suits (civilian) and flashlights on their handguns... So WTF, some guys want a fake surpressor (I do), and it will do me as much good as your surefire on your handgun. Christ, you might as well buy a fake silencer to go with the light.

Just my .02 cents, not targeting ANYONE.
