Hi Guys . I was wondering if any Milsurp collectors or historians would have info on the markings Canadian Forces used on there Jeeps in Korea . I understand that in WW2 Europe invasion all Canadian vehicles had U.S markings along with small Maple Leafs to avoid being attacked by friendly aircraft . Was this the same SOP for Korea ?
And before any mods move this post thinking it is not firearm related as you can see in the picture there is a firearm involved.
Thanks

that olive drab paint sure blends in nicel in low light. I wouldn't want to try finding it in the dark after comeing back from the tree stand.

Nice M38...but Canadian Forces did not use the RT-68/PP-112 you have mounted in the back and the antenna base is also not correct...the radio you have only used the AB-15 w/MS-116,117,118 antenna sections. Also the antenna base was only mounted on the rear corners with a MP50 and a SC-C-28591 "L" bracket or on top of the spare tire mount with a AB-499 antenna base mount. I believe we only used the 19 set and maybe the 42 set.

Google Colin Stevens..he has a web site and he will be able to pass on the correct info you need as far as the markings you will need. I know we used the star during WWII, but i'm not so sure we used them in Korea.

Hope this helps.

PS...Where was the photo taken? Minter Gardens??

Thanks for the info . I know there is a mix match of parts on my m38 but like the military I make the best of what I have on hand . As correct accessories come along I will adapt.
Here's a couple pic's at a car show today

I know nothing about it sadly although it used to drive in the parade....

Suddenly I'm feeling a little older. M38s were still standard issue in the early '60s,along with the somewhat newer M38A1s. I think I suffered some of my hearing loss from their howling transfer cases when you wound them up to 60MPH on the highway. The M38A1s adapted for the 106RCL hung on into the early 1970s,even though we had the later M38A1 Cdn 2 (1967) and M38A1 Cdn 3 (1970) by then.

Canadian Forces Korea

Yup...it's a CJ3A.

#1 BCSHOOTER...I poked around my shop today...I have a HS-33 handset and a LS-166 remote mount speaker that are correct for your radio...PM me if your interested.

The Can recon gun jeeps had their C1 (1919A4) mounted on a swinging gun mount bolted to the right hand side (passenger side) of the jeep body just below the battery compartment cover. It was one of the strangest MG gun mount you would ever see on an army jeep.

GPMG Mount

Just tube welded together and a mount bolted to the side, I have some pictures around somewhere. Lost the the M38 got the Iltis and gun mounts went bye bye, the Iltis body was not considered strong enough to support the mount. Back to improvised mounts on the hood bungy cords and tripods gotta love NDHQ planning. We did mount the old mount to the roll bar but it was a wee bit unsafe.
