Canadian IPSC Nationals

It would be nice if they could think of how to use their limited real estate to its max potential (eg putting 2 short COF on one bay etc) so instead of the originally proposed 12 stages they could have 14 and using the new 2014 "Course Ratio Chart" could have 6 short, 6 medium and 2 long ...maximum 280 rounds...and they would still be in compliance of the rules

12 stages is rather skimpy when you have to deal with the 3:2:1 crap, 12 long courses would be a bit better for a L3 but not a nationals :-( like Pauls said its good to be able to shoot uspsa. Here comes the butt hurt in 3,2,1

Anybody want to do a pool to guess the match fee? Some metrics to help with the guessing.... Coon hunters has a match coming up specifically to make money and you get 18 stages 500 rounds for $150 over 2 days of shooting. Worlds was 30 stages (forget how many rounds as i didnt get to shoot them all ) and that was $600 over a week and half of shooting. Nats will be less stages/rounds of coon hunters but will require staffing for a few extra days even with the forced labour from the shooters so that will add some extra expenses but nats isnt a profit driven match, at least i dont think it is.

the speed pass idea from last year wasnt a totally bad idea, few minor tweaks to the concept could help imo.

parking being an issue is highly probable with the size/layout of the range, lets hope they dont follow in the footsetps of the world shoot with that

For starters if you have no intention of shooting the match stop reading and move along.

For those that will attend, would you rather get some cheap trinket just for showing up or see the savings put towards a lower match fee or comping a dedicated range staff?

comping a dedicated range staff

Great idea but they should be recruiting staff now not in April/May as people will be making their plans now. I know I will be buying my plane tickets as soon as I see the next decent sale at West Jet and I will probably just plan on being there to shoot the match as I can't see thinking I might be able to work the match and then not get picked and have to spend an extra $500 in hotel and car rental fees.

....a dedicated range staff should be expected at a Nationals to keep everything consistent on all the stages.......comping them as much as possible is worth every penny as they are out there several days before the match ( to shoot it themselves and dry run any potential stage problems) and all day every day working a stage at the match...long hours and extra days commitment away from home, possibly family, and possibly loss of income

usually (based on past few nationals), you shoot 2 half days, and you work 2 half days. usually your work and shooting schedule is so that you aren't shooting the half day after your morning shift working etc.

ps: it can be a combination of work a full day and shoot 2 half days or shoot a full day and work 2 half days as well

The 2011 Nationals in Ontario didn't have mandatory work requirement.

BTW, did anyone else noticed the 2015 Nationals match is not listed on either ipsc.org nor ipsc-ont.org match calendars?

I say, lets wait till official info comes from Mike or Pat. I don't want to defend anyone, but we don't know yet what is a final plan as far as stages, round count, etc... After haste posting on ON IPSC site 200 rounds/12 stages, someone has pulled that out. Who knows, maybe the info wasn't accurate and complete enough. Lets wait and give them a chance to respond with official info.
Match needs to get official sanctioning at least 3 months before first round is fired, which is 3rd week of August. My guess is, they working now on drawing stages for the match/range and trying to put all the puzzles together so the match will happen.
