Canadian LEGAL 223 Remington, thirty round capacity mags

What if you modified your AR15 to take Dlask mags?

The catch is that it'd be difficult to do, and you'd definitely get alot of hassle about 30 rds in an AR.

This 30 rds in an AR idea could really be put to rest if a bolt action rifle was developed that used 30 round mags that just happened to fit into an AR.

The regulations of the sport shooting hobby are getting very, very difficult to follow...for years everyone has said semi-auto centre fire rifles are limited to 5 rounds when now it seems that it is the magazine that determines the capacity....

If the time ever comes, explaining it to peace officer is going to bring on even more frustration.

The key is knowing the law. This is not new stuff.

That is not correct. This is exactly what Wolverine was attempting with the Remington 7615 pump action rifles. Due to the ability of the mags to be used in AR-15 series rifles the request was denied.

Yeah but the 7615 mags were no different than AR mags. If this pac-5 mag does not fit in an AR it should be good to go. Now, nothing says you can't modify your AR to accept the magazine.

That's very true TM. So long as the magazine is not deemed a copy or variant of the AR15/M16 magazine. To modify a newly designed 30 round mag to fit your AR sounds like an abortion to me. Who knows. If it works, excellent.

It was the fact that rem used a mag well adapter to allow the 7615 to use AR15 mags and promoted it as such. Had they design a new "hi reliablity" mag for the 7615, that also fit the AR, the would hav ben legal.

Design gun for mag = bad
Design mag for gun= OK

When it comes to firearms in Canada, things can (and do) change with the stroke of a faceless bureaucrat's pen. If a public interpretation of an existing law or regulation leaves a loophole that someone 'up there' takes exception to, that loophole will quickly be closed by a few new lines of arbitrary text added to the CFC website. It's a wonder that anyone is willing to remain in the recreational firearms business in this country at all.

Can you imagine the auto industry if cars were subjected to the same non-sensical definitions of what is and isn't legal? You wouldn't be able to design a vehicle to accept a specific type of tire ...but if you designed a tire for that same vehicle, that would be okay.

It's enough to leave you strumming your lips with your index finger and making 'bubada-bubada-bubada' sounds...

yep -the anglos wind up on ther Gulf coast (including Depends City -Sanibel Island wheremulroney went top recuperate a couple of years ago) and in various trailer parks and the Francos in Hollywood Fl. and in various trailer parks.

Y'know, I saw a garbage truck southbound on I-95 just north of Hollywood Blvd once - with Quebec plates on it.

I've always been puzzled by that one.

I suspect if people keep pushing this thing with mags designed for other types of guns fitting in semi-autos and pistols that eventually the regs will be changed to ten rounds for everything. It's just a statutory instrument, right, so it can be changed literally with the stroke of a pen.

No, it will be changed to 5 rounds for everything, not 10. no exceptions, work arounds...
