Canadian Rifle Builders - Who would you spend your money with?

There are 3 Smiths I would use in Canada. They include Chou Brothers, Insite Arms, and Redd Nobb. I personally Use the Chou Brothers because of them being in Ontario and building tac drivers.
Harley and Andy at Insite Arms build amazing Tactical and hunting rifles that are stunning and stupid accurate.

Paul at Redd Nobb puts together a hell of a gun as well. Any one I know with one can't say enough good things about them.

Any one of these Smiths will go above and beyond your expectations to build you the best possible gun. To boot they are great shooters as well.

Cheers
Ryan

I have had Casey Brouwer, from Tactical Ordnance do up a .260 for me. Tac Driver.

I've also recently had Steve Emblin from EM Precision Rifles do up a .300WSM. Again, tac driver.

I'd reccomend both of them to anyone.

As everyone stated previously, you can't go wrong with the Chou Brothers or Insite Arms. Their builds speak for themselves.

Ian Robertson of Ottawa has made some amazing shooting rifles he built a .308 win for good friend who shot the most V bulls in the Rutland Cup team shoot than anyone

Looking for opinions and insight from this audience on who would have your money for a precision rifle build? I'm considering something in a 6.5 Creed or regular old 308 in a precision rig and am trying to decide between builders mainly Canadian but open to other options. Rifle would mainly be used for square range activity and some PRS style shooting.

Considering the following choices/builders:

- PGW Coyote
- Chou Brothers build
- Insite Arms in a Manners stock
- ATRS build likely a bolt gun but tempted by the Modern Hunter as well
- Cadex

What's been your mileage and experience with these choices CGN? This would be an expensive build for sure with these choices, interested in hearing from this audience with any insight you have.

What is the turn around time for these noted rifle smiths? As I get older I don't have unlimited to wait a year or more for my rifle.
Do these smiths supply the rifle components or do you source them indepentedly?

Insite will hook up up with the parts and turn around is very reasonable, they are a great full service shop with lots of stock and access to just about anything you could want

And if you don't wish to wait, PGW rifles in .308 come onto the EE with regularity.
If purchased without the (oversized, awkward and heavy) full deployment kit they can be had for around 4K, no tax.
I have bought two, and they are accurate. Not in the .1s, but definitely sub .5 MOA.
Sold the first one (a folder with the pistol grip) as I mainly shoot from a bench.
Then replaced it with one that has a McMillan A-5 stock.
Much better than the pistol grip version, on a bench.
The H-S Precision HTR 2000 will shoot the same way, as will my Sig 3000.

Not starting a Custom vs. High End Production argument. I'm just stating that some
of these production rifles will shoot better than most shooters can.

Mystic Precision;14089694 I spent a very nice day with Terry at Black Art Rifle Company installing the last of 5 test barrels which are part of a product development program I am doing with a major US barrel manf. Compared to how the barrel was set up at the factory said:
I have two rifles with Terry right now- one a rem ti action and a frozenfiber barrel being turned into a 260ai. I am hopefull his work stands up to his reputation. His communication has been great, and that seems to be an issue with most.

Terry does outstanding work. He rebarrelled my Stevens action for my FTR build (currently up in the EE) a few years ago. Great communication, very nice work, rates and time were good. Wouldn't hesitate getting more done by him.

terry built my first custom rifle couple years ago. It shoots way better than me! service was excellent, so was the communication. I would not hesitate to get him to do another build.

ATRS is my choice. Local, experienced, and with great tooling. Just another week or two of waiting and another full custom will make its way to the range.

ATRS. But They're local for me and I've never had a reason to shop anywhere else. So far they have built me a custom semi, custom bolt, and now are putting a new barrel on a 7mm. Never any issues, always friendly and very helpful.

Well said.

AC Douglas in Saskatoon has done 3 barrelled actions for me. Great work.

Dennis Lair of Go Ballistic Gunsmithing near Star city has done some work for me as well and I'm happy with the results.
