Dammit!!! Finally someone at Norinco finally figured it out! Time to save up for one. I was contemplating chopping mine up to size or get a new one...behold my prayers are answered :)!!

Betcha it has to do with Kiwi gun laws. Going by the wiki entry, that would make them harder to own there.

Having slots in the flash hider, making it some what functional, would turn it into a "military style semi automatic" under our laws - making it illegal to own without an endorsement on your firearms license, a permit to procure for the rifle, and a 6mm steel gun safe to store it in. I could however drill holes in the flash hider, to turn it into a muzzle break, or pull it off and put a suppressor on, and it would still be perfectly legal to own on a standard license. And putting it in a locked cup board would be sufficient under our arms act.

The creators of NZ and Canuck gun laws share a similar base of intelligence

So I *did * call it! :D

At least we're better off than those poor Aussies...

Damn, already have a chopped M14 and an XCR-M on the way! But at that price... with ammo  I couldn't resist any longer and placed my order.

Thanks CanAm.

man I wonder who had this fantastic idea to have factory made m14 shorties imported to Canada? ;)

I will pick one up later this year just because I only have one m14 right now :(
