CANCELLED-AFRA Precision Rifle Match in 2015

I would be interested it this. Kind of a cross between F-Class and more "tactical/practical" matches. Could be fun if you did away with the sighters, all shots fired are scored....

Am I reading this correctly? 40 rounds on score per day? So 80 rounds for a 2 day match.

Oh - yeah ...I didn't see that part as I read too quickly through. 80 rounds over 2 days - I would definitely NOT come out from BC for that. Not worth my time really.

The BC Precision match was close to 300 over 2 days.

Since you are using e targets... there will be no pit changes... except for a major maintenance or backing swap.

Why not allow a shooter to shoot BOTH bolt and semi if they want to?

That would double the rd count shot... and it would be a hoot.

Or just increase the relays for more shooting per day. With the fast 1 1/2 min relay, you can cycle through 3 shooters in about 15 mins... so the entire field could be done in about 1 hour.

The next event would be done in about 1.5 hours.

Now what do you do the rest of the day?

If everyone has a reader to see the target, the need for a spotter becomes redundant. There is nothing to spot and would actually slow down the shooter.

If you put them in groups of 4 - 2 shooters per target, you would cycle even more shooters through fast.... one shoot, one score. the other pair sets up or is set up. By the time they are done, the first scorer can be set up as the next shooter. Infiltrate so the line doesn't stop shooting. The time limit would be started by the scorer and a stop watch.

With only 3 targets, you have no problems spacing out gear/mats and shooters. Infiltrating new shooters would be super easy and fast.

You can run ALOT of shooters through this way.

Or don't let them see the reader until all of the shot have been fired and use the spotter. That would be more realistic...

.

Speaking as a low tech kinda guy, what does/is an example of an "electronic display device?"

a smart phone/ipod/ipad/iphone with wifi. Will require a web browser already on the device to see the data in real time.

the process to use it requires you to turn on your wifi connection, then connect to the wifi network as normal, then input the address into your web browser.

(unless they changed the system they had this previous year).

Thank you.:) Interesting. So people will basically be able to see their targets/scores via the display?

Well, I guess I'm out unless I choose to tether myself electronically/buy a device. Don't tell the North Koreans, or anti gun hackers about this :). Dear Leader will always get perfect scores!

Gentlemen - I have taken heed of your comments and I have discussed them with the AFRA Exec & various AFRA members. This evening I will make some changes to the match format.

Electronic Targets - The AFRA uses them to speed up the match process and to eliminate the need for target pullers / makers. The Electronic Target system comes with a firing point unit that has WIFI. Therefore you need a electronic display unit that has WIFI. I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 which has WIFI, an Android operating system and a large screen. I have tried using my iPhone but there is something about the OS that just doesn't work. Other AFRA members use IPads and laptops with great success. Couple of points, you should use something with a medium size screen, the small phone screen are just too small to see the targets clearly. Also glare will be a problem because with the increase in image quality you also get more glare, if you try to use a non glare film it just makes the image cloudy.

Later, Jay
