Can't decide wether you want an optic geared more for ranged or CQB? Why not both?...
I got sidetracked the other night while I was looking up other things and came across this:

Oh neat... use the ACOG or whatever magnified optic for longer work and then just tilt your rifle a bit for some ###y CQB action. Unlike a docter optic or something, you can presumably maintain a nice cheekweld, and it looks like a blazing quick transition...
Oh and here's a similar setup from another company... hey its a combo aimpoint/flashlight mount called the MURLM...
