Recently went into a local gun store and asked to hold one of the handguns in there so I could get a feeling of the gun but they said that I can't touch one until I have my restricted license.

Is this the same everywhere or is this just a store policy?

They probably figure that if you don't have your restricted, you can't buy it,
so they don't want to waste their time.

True. Imagine all the joe-blows showing up to fondle the firearms without a having the ability to buy , then all the other legitimate buyers waiting in line . I say it's a good policy, I don't like waiting lines.:D

Ask them if you can touch a person with a restricted pal, while they touch the gun.

Or: Tell them you'll wear gloves, that way you never actually touch it.

Or: Bring in a bag of chopsticks, rubber band a few together and touch it in the rack.

Or: Touch it quickly and run out, squealing.

Or: Tell them you never actually wanted to touch it, really you just want to smell it, but were embarased to ask.

LOL, Saskatoon WSS told me the same thing. I asked to see the clerks RPAL..... he didnt have one. I showed him mine and requested a qualify clerk to show me a handgun...:kickInTheNuts:

WSS in Lethbridge wont even blink an eye, fondle everything you want.

In Alberta, I've never been asked for my RPAL before looking at a Restricted gun.

If you go back to the same shop, ask them why. Then ask them if, after you get your RPAL if you should bother to come back. Look sceptical, whatever they tell you...

i know wholesale sports,&,Cabelas Will not let you "play" with them with out your rpal..

What Sucks is i bring in my 32RF Antique Revolver with a 2.5" barrel to "fit some Holsters" and they let me do that. But then they dont let me look at the new Revolver after WTF! (i dont have my RPal And dont think i will ever get it. i dont want to be stuck shooting my Rpal guns at a gun range!

+1 I don't mind the policy, look at all the tire kickers we have in this world, seriously.... It's not even a hassle, it is so common so I don't care really. :D
