Can't touch a restricted handgun without RPAL?

95% of the time I am asked for my PAL to handle restricted, even though some of the stores know me and have seen it before still ask for it.

I think it's got to be an insurance thing.

my local store also will allowed me to touch the guns before I was licensed. Why? So I can get hooked and get motivated to get my license. This policy is not a proper way to treat new comers to the sport. Before anyone will invest $ into courses and licenses, they want to make sure its the right thing for them.

I agree, it is not an exclusive club sometimes the gun community scares more away than it attracts.

When your hair is grey and your snash is white, they won't bother asking you any more:D

Oh Ya: And you look like you could aford to buy something on the spot.

In the end I dont really care either. If I want to handle a gun, I will toss my RPAL down, like a dink...:D

At the local gun store, which required proof of RPAL, I had buddy bring out almost every handgun, then asked him to match WSS price. After 45 mins of total be-littleing by the store owner, I politley told him to pound sand....

Buy on-line

I think it's a great policy. It completely eliminates tire kickers who simply want to hold a pistol. I used to work a gun counter and nothing chapped my ass more than people who come into a busy store and waste time with their buddies just to hold a gun and look cool. With comments like "this is what I use in call of duty".

True. Imagine all the joe-blows showing up to fondle the firearms without a having the ability to buy , then all the other legitimate buyers waiting in line . I say it's a good policy, I don't like waiting lines.:D

When ever I'm in a gun shop, I see the counter guy being bothered by "tire kickers" while the rest of us wait for service. Mind you, they are also probably new shooters and want info before making a potential purchase. Just wish they would figure that sh!t out AFTER the get their RPAL.

Laugh2 I know a guy like that Laugh2:agree:

Never had a problem at my local. Let me fondle and caress and even purchase before my license had materialized.

i wrote the RCMP afew months ago and asked if it was ok for my mom(has no pal) to shoot one of my guns just to try it out. they said its perfictly fine.
i dont think there is any law against holding or shooting a gun. its up to the store i guess. if you feel they are being rude to you just tell them they lost a customer and go some place else. or ask for a manager.

There are no cfo policies requiring the vendor to see a pal in order to show a firearm only store policies. I have never asked to see a pal before handing a gun over. However I reserve the right to deny serice if I feel its needed.
