I picked this one up for a song. Well made and reliable. 14" chrome lined barrel made by Derya. It came with 3 Beretta Mobil chokes (F,M,C) and a nice muzzle brake. It also doesn't hurt that it came with very nice Turkish walnut furniture!

My canuck regulator lasted 9 shots before needing warrenty. Sadly i do like the gun

What went wrong? Edit: never mind, found your previous post. Yes, some come with tight tolerances (as did mine) and certainly require some dry or lightly lubed rackings to smooth them up. Mine did the exact same thing as your's before I shot it, to the 'T', but I was able to get the barrel off and the bolt out. I lightly sprayed the bolt and raceways with G96, and racked her about 100 times and she has run problem free since. It's about as smooth as my Mossberg 500 Tactical. No complaints.

The design is very good, but I wouldn't trust my life to a 300$ shotgun... Think of this, half of that money went to the walnut furniture and the chokes, doesn't leave much budget for quality

Just had to disassemble my regulator. Snap cap jammed in the mag tube. Also, from the looks of it, I'm chewing up hulls when racking dummy rounds. Price point is good but if something goes bump in the night, the 590A1 is coming out, not the canuck.

I have a Mossberg, had several 870's, and I can tell you that I would absolutely feel confident with any "bump in the night" situation with this gun. You will find stories of problems with any make and model. All lines have lemons.

The canuck action has nothing in common with the 870 except the location of the controls. It is a copy of the Weatherby PA-08 that used to be sold here. Maybe a turkish firearms historian can tell us if the design predates the collaboration with weatherby, I don't know who designed it. Many turkish brands use that action today.

When I said it is similar to an 870, it most certainly borrows design elements. But you are correct, it is no copy, and in my humble opinion, very well designed. I will ask my neighbour if I can borrow his Weatherby PA-08, as I am now curious. For the record, he rants and raves about how reliable and handy his PA-08 is and he eventually sold off his 870.

Labour rates are much lower in Turkey and their walnut is plentiful. I am not surprised in the value. BTW, their prices are creeping up as they add more features... mine is derived from a Renegade model which comes equipped with a one-piece picatinny rail, heat shield and forward quad rails it retails for nearly $400 + tax. The recent batch of Renegades with the nice wood did not come with the chokes.

The real cost of a canuck pump is 280. That's the model with the plastic stock and the chokes, the cheapest available with the least amount of features offered.

Bullseye London seems to have the biggest selection. Good prices too. I picked up a tactical stock with cheek riser and shell holder, a short pump forend as found on the synthetic Renegade models and a front sling plate / handstop... All for $90 shipping included.

I like mine

I do use it still for skeet and turkey hunting. I admit ive only had the one issue. Its more solid and less rattlely than my mossberg or the 870s ive owned. I bought it new at bullseye when they first became flooded on the market. I had handled the synthetic version on the wall and said i wish it came in wood the guy said i just got them in. He went in the back and returned with the one i bought. With the full stock it fit great. I keep saying im going to reshape the birds head grip. The swelling at the end i dont like for pumping on doubles in skeet. It forces my hand to slide up and restricts my wrists rotation.
With a primos turkey choke it shoots real tight patterns

The Canucks look ok, but I tend to prefer the Hatsan Escort/Aimguard platform more than the Akar/Churchill/Canuck platform.

Albeit very similar, the Hatsan is smoother, has a bigger receiver and and all mine have been problem free for 8+ years.

I have a Canuck 14" with Synthetic stock and a sling on. I am going to add on a plus one magazine extension and a light. Love the gun, shoots nice.
